Marquette will be closest for you, with Munising and Escanaba about an hour drive away. September is one of the most beautiful times of year to explore the UP. Here’s some things to consider checking off your bucket list while in town: - Beers at Blackrocks and Ore Dock, where you’ll usually see a great food truck or two - Explore Presque Isle Park, Sugarloaf Mountain, Dead River Falls, or take a ride on the many mountain bike trails around town - Hit up the Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum - Shop at Getz’s, Touch of Finland, & Snowbound Books - Have the best meal at Iron Bay, The Vierling, The Delft, Vango’s, BODEGA, Donkers, Casa Calabria, or Elizabeth’s Chop House! - Check out Lakenenland Sculpture Park - Visit the Marquette Maritime Museum & Lighthouse - Check out the DeVos Art Museum on NMU’s campus - Take a glass blowing workshop or just admire at Northern Lights Glassblowing Studio - Try to make it out in time at Escape Marquette - Shop at the antique stores in Negaunee, Silver Creek Thrift in Harvey, or Goodwill in Marquette for some awesome second-hand treasures - Head to the Ojibwa Casino just outside of Marquette - Find the best Pasty in all of da land (Dobber's or Gram's in Escanaba are the best!!) - Spend some time making some art at Hot Plate (fused glass, ceramics painting, etc.) They ship!! - Shop Saturday Morning at the Marquette Farmer's Market Play outside or embrace your indoors-man spirit, you’ll have a great time either way!
