Travel

The Wedding Website of Ida Marie Normann and David Cheshire
Kin House is located in Kington Langley, Wiltshire, in the South West of England. The venue is a ~30 minute drive from Bath - a picturesque city known for its ancient Roman baths, and Bradford-on-Avon - a charming town where David grew up. We would encourage you to stay at either of these two places - both are easy to get to and a good base for the weekend events.
Question

Air

Answer

For those travelling from Norway or further afield, Heathrow and Bristol are the most conveniently located airports. Gatwick and Stansted are also options with a slightly further drive.

Question

Car

Answer

It takes about ~1.5 hours from Heathrow Airport, 2-2.5 hours from Gatwick Airport and 2.5-3 hours from Stansted Airport. Bristol Airport is 30 minutes from the venue.

Question

Train

Answer

You can easily take a train directly from London Paddington to Chippenham and Bath - these take approx. 1 hour and 1 hour 15 minutes respectively. For Bradford-on-Avon, you can change at Bath. Trains from Bath to Bradford-on-Avon take approx. 15 minutes.

Question

Getting to Kin House

Answer

From Bath or Bradford-on-Avon it's a ~30 minute drive. Parking is available at the venue if you would like to drive and pick it up the day after. Uber is widely available in Bath. There are also many local taxi companies around which can be booked in advance by phone or online - try Bath Taxi Cab Service on +441225 317898 or Veezu Bath on +441225 464646. Other providers also exist. Uber has been known to pick-up from Bradford-on-Avon but safer to call a local taxi company and book in advance. Either ask your hotel for options or you can try Bradford-on-Avon Taxis on +441225 862277 or +441225 868111. Another option from Bath is by train. It's less than 15 minutes direct from Bath to Chippenham and then taxis for the ~7 minute drive to the venue from the station can either be booked in advance or picked up at the station taxi rank. To pre-book you can call Veezu Chippenham on +441249 656565.

We recommend staying in either Bath or Bradford-on-Avon and aim to provide transport to these places at midnight after the wedding. FAQ

Gifts

All we want is your presence!

For those asking about gifts, though very kind, your presence is more than enough. Many of you are travelling from afar to spend the day with us so the most we can ask for and the biggest gift to us will be seeing you on the day.

Kids

Babes-in-arms

Although we love your little ones, this will be an adults-only occasion and we are unfortunately unable to accommodate children other than babes-in-arms (Norwegian: Spedbarn). We hope that this advance notice means that you are still able to share our special day with us.

Dress code

Black-tie optional

Tuxes and long dresses are welcome, and so are suits and cocktail dresses.

Things to do

If you are staying in the area for a little longer, or just looking for something to do in the morning or day after the wedding, then here are some suggestions for Bath, Bradford-on-Avon, and the local area.

Bath

Bath, United Kingdom

Explore Bath, a historic city renowned for its Roman baths and Bath Spa. The Spa offers a rooftop pool with stunning city views. Wander the picturesque streets, sip coffee along The Corridor, admire Georgian and Roman architecture at the Crescent, the Circus, or the Abbey. Enjoy a pint of Bath's finest "Bath Ale" at pubs like the Hope Pole. For those wanting something more active, embark on the scenic 10km Bath Skyline walk for breathtaking valley views. Delve into British fiction history at The Jane Austen Centre, transporting you back to Georgian times in Bath, the author's former home.

Bradford-on-Avon

Bradford-on-Avon, United Kingdom

Bradford-on-Avon is a delightful town in Wiltshire. If you join the walking tour, we will show you the best sights and view points on offer. However, if staying a little longer, Bradford is lovely for walks along the river and the canal - a highlight being the trip to Avoncliff with coffee at No. 10. The Saxon Church, Tithe Barn, Town Bridge and the Shambles are the attractions with nice cafes dotted all over - Little Rituals is our favourite. For panoramic views, a walk up to St. Mary's Chapel is recommended.

Stonehenge and more

Wiltshire, United Kingdom

If you are looking for something more quintessentially British, then you can't go wrong with the short drive to Castle Combe or Lacock. Both are cosy Cotswold towns with nice walking and eating options, Lacock heavily featuring in the Harry Potter movies. The other main attractions of the area are the stone circles of Avebury and, more famously, Stonehenge. Both are a worthwhile diversion if driving back from Wiltshire towards London.
