Where is the wedding?

The ceremony and reception will be held at the University of California Botanical Garden at 200 Centennial Drive, Berkeley, California. The UC Botanical Gardens offers free same-day admission for wedding guests. It is well worth checking out prior to the ceremony on Sunday! The garden is open 10am to 5pm.

When is the wedding?

Answer

The ceremony will begin at 5:00pm. Following the ceremony will be a cocktail hour and reception dinner (both also located in the botanical garden). The reception will continue until 11:00pm, but guests are welcome to call it a night earlier.

Are plus ones included in the invites?

Answer

Unfortunately, we are at capacity for our venue so the only guests we can accommodate are those addressed on our invites. We wish we could celebrate with more folks!

What is the event attire?

Answer

Our wedding will be semi-formal. We would describe this as what you might wear to a classy restaurant or a formal event. Something along the lines of dress pants and dress shirt or blouse (tie and jacket optional), or a mid- to full- length dress or jumpsuit. For footwear, keep in mind that venue paths are primarily gravel or wood planking (e.g., we would recommend avoiding stilettos).

How do I get there?

Answer

The closest airport is the Oakland Airport (OAK), which is a 25-minute drive or 1-hour public transit ride to Berkeley. The San Francisco Airport (SFO) and San Jose Airport (SJC) are also nearby. SFO is a 45-minute drive or 1.5-hour public transit ride, while SJC is a 1-hour drive or 2-hour public transit ride. Free parking will be available in the Botanical Garden Lot (37.8758, -122.2390). Unfortunately, no public transit runs directly to the venue on weekends. If you need help coordinating a carpool, please reach out to Ian or Opal.

Do you have hotel recommendations?

Answer

While we have no personal experience with hotels in the area, Hotel Shattuck, The Graduate (by Hilton), and the Residence Inn (by Marriott) come recommended by the venue. There are also numerous other hotels and airBnB offerings in the area that cater to a broader price range.

What weather should I expect?

Answer

Bay Area weather can be unpredictable in all seasons! We are hoping for pleasant weather, but we recommend watching the weather forecast as we get closer. The ceremony will take place outdoors in a shaded grove, dinner will be in an air-conditioned hall, and the dance floor will be on an outdoor patio after sunset.
