On a sunny afternoon, Andrew and Betsy had their first date at a coffee shop in The Fan neighborhood of Richmond, Virginia. They walked and talked for hours and made plans to see each other right away. Betsy was drawn to Andrew’s good manners and accent. Andrew was was attracted to Betsy's genuineness and her love for her work. Though they didn’t know it at the time, it would be their last first date ever!

Andrew proposed to Betsy at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond. Andrew was so nervous the night before that he couldn’t sleep and went to get McDonald’s at 3am. Betsy blacked out when she saw a photographer running towards them and didn’t hear a word of the Andrew’s proposal. But they think she said, "Yes!"
