“Now every February, you'll be my valentine”

We met on January 16th, 2019 in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Shelby had just moved to Florida from Georgia to start her Disney College Program. Kyler had moved from Ohio and was working in education. We were introduced through mutual friends. We got to know each other and hang out a ton!

We became true besties when Halloween Horror Nights 2019 season rolled around. Kyler was too scared to go through the haunted houses, so Shelby emboldened him by offering to let him walk behind her since she was so brave and not scared at all. Kyler ended up loving the event, thanks to Shelby!

In December 2019, we went on a trip to Disneyland with friends. At this point we were still only friends but we did stage a fake proposal in front of Sleeping Beauty castle!

Shortly after the Disneyland trip, our first date was In January of 2020. Kyler took Shelby to one of her favorites, Freddy’s. Then we went to Universal Studios. After a few hours at the park, and walking all the way back to our car, Kyler booked a movie at City Walk so the date wouldn’t be over yet!

Kyler proposed on March 5, 2023, in Millburn, New Jersey. We had plans to see Disney's newest pre-broadway show, Hercules the Musical at Paper Mill Playhouse. Kyler took Shelby to Taylor Park across the street before the show and found a quiet spot with a bench & proposed!

We celebrated five years together exactly one year from our wedding date!
