Héctor Santamaría y Gloria Canales se conocieron el 26 de septiembre del 2024 durante un viaje de celebración de 50 aniversario de bodas en Guatemala, Centroamérica. Héctor viajó desde Florida y Gloria desde Maryland junto con muchos otros amigos para celebrar este importante momento en la vida matrimonial de una pareja de amigos que ambos tienen en común. Sin embargo, ninguno de ellos imaginó nunca que la vida los sorprendería de una manera tan especial, tocando las puertas de sus corazones para encontrarse con el amor en un lugar mágico y especial como es Antigua, Guatemala. Durante el viaje sin darse cuenta, comenzó la química entre ellos y dos días después de conocerse, ambos tenían caras sonrientes que mostraban cuanto disfrutaban de la fiesta, la música, el baile, la amistad, el senderismo, la comida y la conversación simplemente fluyó, fue como que se conocían y caminaban juntos desde hace años. Una vez un escritor dijo: "hay almas que se buscan unas a otras hasta que se encuentran". Al finalizar el viaje, cada uno de ellos regresó a los Estados Unidos con el deseo de probar suerte en su relación a larga distancia. Sus conversaciones telefónicas diarias comenzaron de 30 minutos a cuatro y seis horas de duración, alimentadas por oraciones, detalles y comunicación sincera. Un mes después sintieron una sensación de seguridad, comodidad y una conexión más grande que no habían sentido antes, y fue entonces cuando ambos supieron que el amor había llegado a sus vidas en el momento perfecto, cuando Dios permitió que sucediera. Luego, el 30 de octubre, Héctor le preguntó y ella dijo que sí. Como todos sabemos en este 24 de mayo de 2025 ambos dirán sí ante Dios, amigos y familiares a su hermosa historia de amor.

Héctor Santamaria and Gloria Canales met in September 26, 2024, during a 50th wedding celebration trip in Guatemala, Central America. Hector traveled from Florida and Gloria from Maryland along with many other friends to celebrate an important marriage life milestone of a mutual friend couple. However, neither one of them ever imagine that life would surprise them in such special way, knocking on the doors of their hearts to encounter love in a magical and special place as Antigua, Guatemala. During the trip without realizing it, the chemistry between them started and two days after meeting, both have smiling faces displaying the enjoyment of the party, music, dancing, friendship, hiking, food and the conversation just flowed-it was as they knew each other and walked together for years. A writer once said, "there are souls that seek each other until they are found." Once the trip ended, each of them went back to the United States with the desire of giving a try on their long-distance relationship. Their daily phone conversations started from 30 minutes to four and six hours long nourished by prayers, details and sincere communication. A month later, they felt a sense of security, comfort and stronger connection that they had not felt before, and that is when both knew that love has come into their lives at the perfect time, when God allowed it to happen. Then on October 30th Hector asked her and she said yes. As we all know on this May 24, 2025, they will say yes before God, friends and family to their beautiful love story.
