We met at the end of 2022 while working for the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. He was in training to join communications and I, Hannah, was working overtime on nights. His normal training officer, Brandi, was out sick so they sat him with me. No, sparks didn't instantly fly. We did find it easy to communicate with each other, though. I spent that night hoping to have made a friend and doing my best to impart to him as much info as I could in a 12-hour shift... however, Brandi was out much longer. Which I am incredibly thankful for because if it hadn't happened I don't know if we'd have gotten together. Throughout the few nights, I sat with him just as long as she had and we became friends, so he reached out to the training department and got transferred to me. As we sat together we realized we had more and more in common and quickly became almost best friends. For some reason, people said things before we even were together and thought there was something there between us. My oblivious self didn't see it. But I suppose looking back, I can now see that they could see he liked me. I didn't give him a thought in a romantic way until things had already started. Regardless, he left communications and things have progressed to where we are now... about to be married. I couldn't be more thankful. He is so sweet to me. I am forever grateful that he got to meet my Mimi before she passed, even if she didn't know I was going to marry him one day because I know that she prayed daily for me to finally meet someone. Ryan has helped me brave so many storms already and has been a rock when I have needed it. He is a gentleman, usually, and helps me be more confident in trying new things and breaking out of my shell. He has done me a world of good.
