Our story begins thanks to a little matchmaking from Madi’s boss, Dr. Shiv Patel. One day in September 2024, Shiv asked Eric if he was seeing anyone. When Eric said no, Shiv mentioned that he thought Eric would get along really well with his PA. About a month later, Madi asked if Eric was still single—and that very night, Eric texted her to ask her out on a date. Their first date was October 23, 2024, at Teddy Wong’s. The night went so well that before it even ended, they already had their next date on the calendar. The evening closed with a funny (and now infamous) moment: instead of a simple hug, there was an awkward handshake followed by a hug. To this day, Madi swears she was going in for a side hug, while Eric is equally convinced it was a handshake. Either way, it set the tone for a relationship full of laughter. Fast forward to June 4, 2025—on the shores of Lake Superior, in front of Madi’s grandpa’s house—Eric asked Madi to marry him. It was the perfect setting for such a special moment. Since then, their adventures together have continued to grow. They’ve traveled to places like Las Vegas and Michigan, with one of their favorite memories being an unforgettable night seeing the Eagles perform at the Sphere in Vegas. They love sharing new experiences—whether it’s learning about wine and expanding their palates, or enjoying live music together. Eric has even been teaching Madi to golf, and she’s already proven herself by beating him on a few holes (fair and square!).
