Portland Japanese Garden
See the famous maple tree!
Hoyt Arboretum
Located in Washington Park. Lots of neighboring trail systems, along with the Japanese Gardens, Portland Zoo and the Rose Gardens (won't be in bloom in October, but good views of the city).
Cannon Beach
The Oregon Coast is only about an hour away from Hillsboro by car. Cannon Beach is home to the striking Haystack Rock. Up the 101 you'll find Seaside with an indoor carousel. The Oregon Coast is beautiful, but heads up, in October it's likely to be pretty cold and rainy (Amanda's favorite beach conditions). Pack accordingly!
Willamette Valley
The Willamette Valley is one of our local wine regions, and it is jam packed with awesome wineries, vineyards, and tasting rooms. Take a winding drive through the country and taste your way through our local pinot noir.
Multnomah Falls
Head out east into the Columbia Gorge to check out Multnomah Falls. Lots of striking geological formations and a variety of hikes and sites to see. The Multnomah Falls Lodge also has coffee and dining. Multnomah Falls is the second tallest year-round waterfall in the country!
Portland Spirit Cruises & Events
Board the Portland Spirit in Downtown Portland and enjoy a jaunt up and down the Willamette River, admiring the skyline and relaxing on the water.
