How We Met

They first met at Global Harvest Church. David got hired as the Youth Director in July, 2022 and after his first Sunday he met Goeun for the first time at lunch, introducing herself as, "Gwen" along with a firm handshake. Goeun didn't think much of it, but David's interest was piqued. A couple weeks go by and they both went to see Thor with some friends. After the movie, as a group, they went out to eat at this Chinese skewers restaurant with a random karaoke machine. They both sat next to each other and immediately hit it off. Goeun felt so comfortable with David to the point where she publicly roasted him for majoring in Communications. Near the end of dinner, Goeun was challenged by her friends to go sing on the karaoke machine. As she sang "If I Ain't Got You", David's jaw immediately hit the floor as he heard her beautiful voice. Some people said that he had heart eyes. From that moment, he knew he had pursue her. Soon after, David gets the courage to send Goeun a text about local cafes (although he wasn't just wondering about cafes). One thing led to another. One deep conversation led to another. One late night talk led to another. One prayer led to another. They made things official on October 10, 2022.

The Proposal

8/19/2023

Few days before, Goeun had her nails done with her friends for someone's birthday. The day of, Goeun went to her hair cut appointment. "Today would be the perfect day to get proposed," Goeun thought, hopeful of what could come but quickly dismissed it to prevent herself from disappointment. David had made it clear that he would propose sometime in September, not August. So she went about her day with not much thought. Later that evening, David and Goeun went to a long awaited double date with their friends, Chinsop and Lindsey. Lindsey wanted everyone to dress up for the date to take pictures. Little did Goeun know, it was more than just a double date. Few weeks before, David coordinated with Chinsop and Lindsey to have their double date purposely at the restaurant where David and Goeun had their first date. Dinner went smoothly, and David was able to keep Goeun from being suspicious of anything with the help of his two friends. After dinner, David and Goeun went walking around and went to this bench where they prayed together on their first date. It was there David surprised her as he gave a letter to read conveying his heart for Goeun. At the end of the letter he wrote, "I have one more question to ask you..." As Goeun looked up with tears in her eyes, David got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She joyfully nodded and said, "Yes".
