One Autumn day in 2020 I did a double take at a Dwayne Johnson doppelgänger who was staring at me at the gym. This tall, dark, and handsome fellow (A.K.A. Steven) walked over to introduce himself and he eventually asked for my number. I politely declined- a couple times… but I had good reason! I wasn’t sure if I was ready for something new, but he piqued my interest so I agreed to exchange socials. I spent the whole night thinking about our interaction and before I knew it I received a message from him. From there we spent many late nights talking and getting to know one another. The sleep deprivation was real but I never regretted a second of it! We learned a lot about each other and were spending all our free time together. Soon after, a beautiful love blossomed and we've been inseparable ever since. I look back on our early days fondly but I am definitely glad to be getting more sleep now!
It was my 27th birthday. Steven & I were in Miami Beach, Florida excited to board a cruise ship the next day. We made a trip to the beach, checked out the shops on Lincoln Road, and had dinner at a little Italian place. The restaurant was packed full of people who were trying to get in from the pouring rain. The menu was basically all foreign to us, and let’s just say the Lasagna was not the safe bet we thought it would be! After we left, I suggested we take a walk to the beachfront to listen to the ocean for a little peace and quiet. It had just downpoured and the wind was wild so I didn’t want to stay out too long. There was no one around, just us and the sounds of the waves crashing. After a few moments I suggested we head back to our hotel to call it a night but Steven had other plans... He got down on one knee and told me that this was not his ‘Plan A’ but he couldn’t wait any longer. He FINALLY asked me to marry him!!! It was such a sweet, intimate, and shocking moment. It is one of my favorite moments in time! (Plan A was a Flash Mob by the way…)
