I met Dennisha at church, and after a quick introduction, we hit it off right away. Our first date, bowling, seemed fun, but I later learned I made her uncomfortable. I gave her space, and we stayed friendly, gradually building a genuine connection. At a conference in Mexico, she explained why she felt uneasy after our first date, and I apologized. We kept hanging out, but I didn’t think she saw me as anything more than a friend. Months later, my mentor encouraged me to pursue her again. I asked her on another date, and this was the day that everything changed. Although not particularly romantic, we went mini golfing, and by the end of the date, she told me it was the best one she’d had. The next day, she confided in my mentor’s wife that she liked me and wanted to take things further. That same day, I asked Dennisha to be my girlfriend, and from that moment, I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. It was a long shot, but here we are, planning the rest of our lives together.
