Kate, from Vermont, and Stephen, from Massachusetts, arrived at the St. Albans School of Public Service in Washington, DC, in June 2014 for what was slated to be an educational, month-long public service training camp for rising high school seniors. According to Stephen (because Kate doesn't remember), he entered through the school's tall wooden doors for the first time and Kate *burst* right by him to grab her luggage. Fast forward to a welcome mocktail hour, Kate (who actually remembers doing this) pulled a chair right up to Stephen and they began chatting about their top schools. Number one for each: Georgetown University, just down the hill. After building a friendship for a few weeks, Stephen coaxed Kate onto a tiny ferris wheel at a county fair in Maryland, and she panicked, grabbing Stephen's hand for dear life. The next day, they went on their first date—to get milkshakes, of course. Now after a year of long-distance, four years side-by-side at Georgetown, and a few more years of adulthood and puppy parenthood, they're excited to finally get hitched!
