Our Story

College Sweethearts

It was the fall semester of 2016, and newbie Nicholas found himself at East Stroudsburg University. Fortunately, a friend from the college he was transferring from had a girlfriend who also went to ESU. The ever-social butterfly Nick threw on his star-patterned button-up and walked down the hall to join some new friends for a night out on Main Street. As Nick walked in, he saw a girl jumping on the bed and singing along to “All Night Longer.” Gina excitedly greeted Nick and thought, “He’s handsome, but he looks like a heartbreaker.” The shirt with four unbuttoned buttons said it all! Gina and Nick remained friends for a few months. They went to the library together, the campus café, grabbed late-night pizzas, and even went on a few hikes. Gina would call her grandmother to update her on college life, and she would always mention this guy — his name was Nick, but they were just friends! Her grandmother would laugh and say, “Alright, I look forward to hearing more about this friend.” Then, on a night out with some of Nick’s hometown friends, one of them asked, “Are you going to take Gina on a date or not?!” Later that week, Nick picked Gina up, and they went out for sushi. After that, everything just fell into place. They laughed so hard their cheeks hurt, went on countless fun dates, met each other’s families, and quickly became inseparable. Nick always says he was waiting for a girl who could be his best friend — and he found that in Gina. One night, as Gina and Nick were getting ready to go out to Panera, he asked her to be his girlfriend. Gina immediately said yes — just as she did when he asked her to marry him on December 8, 2023, seven years later.
