Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice! Sarah and Ben met almost 5 years ago on the last Friday night in August, 2018! On their first date, they went to the Crown Inn (a bar in Crown Heights Brooklyn) around the corner from Sarah's apartment. Sarah was very on brand, and was approximately 20 minutes late for the date. Surprisingly, that wasn't a red flag for Ben, and they spent a few hours talking and drinking scotch and tequila. At the end of the night, Sarah decided it would be a great time to watch the seminal 1988 classic - Tim Burton's "Beetlejuice," and, yes, they finished the whole movie. We've been pretty much inseparable ever since!

Let’s get this out of the way first: Ben was nervous. And Sarah knew what was up. There’s no use denying it. It was mid December, and Ben had a date planned to go to a walking winter light show at the Brooklyn Botanical gardens. The thing is, the date had been planned for like two months and Ben kept implying that Sarah should dress nice and it would be a big date, etc etc. Sarah also had been getting her nails done and was planning on stopping for a bit to save money, to which Ben was like ‘No! Keep those nails pretty!’ So Sarah was on to it. Who wouldn’t be? But when the date arrived, they walked through the light displays. They got hot chocolate. They arrived at *the location* which was a beautiful light tunnel with flower twinkle lights. Ben stopped Sarah in the middle, and proposed. And of course, in the most 'Ben' moment ever, he opened the ring box upside down. There's photographic evidence. Sarah said yes, obviously. And they headed to The Crown Inn, the bar where they had their first date, to drink and celebrate. After calling friends and family from the bar and getting tons of free drinks from the very kind staff at Crown Inn, the newly engaged couple made their way to Olmsted, for some excellent food...and more wine.
