How we met

First comes school, then comes marriage

We knew each other for many years before we started dating. We first met each other in middle school, and in middle and in high school we had many classes together. In the middle of our sophomore year of high school, we really started to get to know each other. We sat at the same table in english class, and in band Kyle always seemed to pick the percussion instrument to play that was behind where Katie sat. On April 27, 2016 we started dating. Looking back now, we were such babies. We went to junior and senior prom together. Then came the big decision when we decided to go to two different colleges, Katie went to Shenandoah University and Kyle went to West Virginia University. Long distance during our college years was very difficult, however through late night FaceTime calls, many text messages, and driving the 2 hour and 45 minute drive to see each other even for a day any chance we could get. Even though we were far apart, our love grew stronger than ever. Katie eventually started physical therapy school, and Kyle was finishing up his degree in music therapy. Even in the later stages of school, we tried our best to see each other as often as we could. Just before our 8 year anniversary, Kyle proposed on April 12, 2024, and of course Katie said yes!

When Kyle Proposed

April 12, 2024

During a break between Katie's last clinical in physical therapy school, Katie and Kyle went for a trip to Corolla, NC. We got in late at night on Thursday, as it was pouring rain. The next morning, we had planned to go and tour The Whalehead Club, one of the most gorgeous historic buildings in Corolla, NC, and Katie's favorite place to go watch the sunset. Kyle was dressed oddly nicely to go on the tour, and well, Katie was in running shorts and a sweatshirt. Before going on the tour, we went for a walk on the boardwalk area in the front of The Whalehead Club. Kyle stopped and proposed right in front of The Whalehead Club. It was the easiest yes for Katie! We can't wait to share one of our favorite spots with all of our friends and family exactly a year later from when we got engaged. Make sure to walk around the Whalehead Club while you are in Corolla, NC!
