Travel Note
A Honeymoon… with Friends and Family? Absolutely. After all the joy of the wedding, we knew we wouldn’t be ready to say goodbye just yet. So instead of slipping away quietly on a traditional honeymoon, we thought—why not take an adventure together? We’ve planned a very special, fully-organized 16-day trip through southern Mexico, and we’d love for you to join us if you’re up for it. Think of it as a honeymoon… with our favorite people. Yes, even the mother of the bride is coming—because what’s more romantic than jungle hikes, ancient ruins, and rooming a few doors down from your in-laws? From Chiapas to Quintana Roo, we’ll explore ancient Mayan cities, breathtaking canyons, jungle waterfalls, vibrant towns, peaceful beaches, and hidden cenotes. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime route through some of the most stunning and culturally rich parts of the country—and a chance to spend quality time together in a totally different setting. We’d be thrilled to have you with us for this post-wedding adventure. This trip is completely optional, of course. But if you’re curious, all the details, dates, and pricing can be found below.
Travel Note
Our adventure begins in Chiapas, where we’ll explore the dramatic Sumidero Canyon by boat, surrounded by towering cliffs and abundant wildlife. Then, we’ll visit San Cristóbal de las Casas, a charming colonial town known for its colorful streets and indigenous culture. From there, we dive deep into the Lacandon Jungle, chasing waterfalls like El Chiflón, discovering the peaceful beauty of Las Nubes, and staying at eco-lodges such as Las Guacamayas, a sanctuary for scarlet macaws. We’ll take a river trip to the hidden Mayan ruins of Yaxchilán and Bonampak, where history and nature come alive in the jungle. Next, we visit Palenque, an extraordinary Mayan city surrounded by tropical forest. We’ll tour its temples and visit the Albert Ruz Lhuillier Museum to see original artifacts and learn about its ancient rulers. Our journey continues to Campeche, a historic walled city that once faced pirate attacks, then on to the vast Calakmul Biosphere Reserve, where jungle and wildlife will immerse us in nature’s grandeur. Midway through the trip, we slow down at the stunning Bacalar Lagoon, known as the “Lagoon of Seven Colors.” Here, you can relax, swim, and soak in the calm beauty. Then, we board the Mayan Train to the Riviera Maya, exploring Tulum and Playa del Carmen. We’ll visit the impressive ruins of Cobá, swim in the breathtaking Gran Cenote, and take a boat to Cozumel, famous for its coral reefs. We’ll escape to the tranquil island of Holbox, where flamingos roam and the pace is slow and peaceful—a perfect place to recharge. Our journey’s grand finale brings us to Chichén Itzá, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. We’ll walk among ancient pyramids, ball courts, and temples, and cool off in the sacred waters of Cenote Ik-Kil. Finally, we visit the bright “Yellow Town” of Izamal, the colonial city of Mérida, and the charming town of Valladolid, where we’ll experience the vibrant Day of the Dead celebrations.
