Travel

The Wedding Website of Melina Maldonado and Gabriel Thrower
We recommend flying into Wilmington International Airport (ILM), which is approximately 45 miles from the venue. Albert J. Ellis Airport (OAJ) is also a convenient option at about 35 miles from the venue; however, as a smaller airport, flight availability may be more limited. Renting a car is strongly recommended. While Uber and other rideshare services are available, availability near the beach area can be limited at times. We have taken the liberty of suggesting a couple of nearby accommodations, including the wedding venue, The St. Regis at North Topsail Beach. This section will be updated with additional lodging options in the coming weeks.

Q & A

Question

What is the respond by date?

Answer

Kindly reply before Saturday, August 22, 2026.

Question

Can I bring a date or a plus one?

Answer

We have carefully planned our day around celebrating with only our closest family and friends, thus, only guests who are named on the invitation and RSVP page are able to attend and we are not in a position to allow plus-ones. We appreciate your understanding on this matter.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

While we adore your little ones, we kindly request that the ceremony and reception be an adults-only celebration. We truly appreciate your understanding and support.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

October is considered one of the best times to visit North Carolina beaches, often described as a "second summer" with warm, pleasant days, cooler evenings, and far fewer crowds. Temperatures are generally mild to warm, with highs in the 70s°F and lows in the 50s°F. We will keep an eye on the weather and provide more details as the date approaches.

Question

Where should I park?

Answer

There is plenty of free paved parking near the entrance of the venue.

Question

Are the ceremony and reception locations wheelchair accessible?

Answer

Yes. The beach ceremony site is accessible via wooden ramps leading to the seating area. The reception will be held at The Overlook, which is fully accessible by elevator.

Question

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The wedding ceremony is expected to take place outdoors on the beach. St. Regis Topsail also offers a beautiful indoor ceremony option, which serves as our inclement weather plan. The reception will take place at St. Regis Topsail's The Overlook. As the tallest point on Topsail Island, it features a panoramic ocean view unlike any other in the state.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

We kindly invite our guests to dress in “beach formal” to “seaside chic” attire using rich and saturated jewel tones. For gentlemen, lightweight suits (ties not required) or button-down or linen shirts paired with tailored slacks are ideal. Loafers or boat shoes complete the look with effortless polish. For ladies, elegant maxi sundresses or long flowing silhouettes in breezy fabrics are perfect for our seaside celebration, complemented by dressy flats, wedges, or block heels.

Question

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

Answer

The ceremony will be unplugged. Please refrain from having your phones out during this time. After the ceremony, yes! We would love for you to take photos and share them with us!

Question

Whom should I contact with questions?

Answer

Please text Melina at 770-833-6400 or Gabe at 724-766-5287 with questions as the wedding approaches.
