It started off as an ordinary morning. Derek was in his office when he heard a knock on the door and saw Jenny (his boss) standing outside with someone he'd never met. Jenny came in and introduced the new Community Health & Nutrition Administrator, Samantha. Little did he know, she would change his life forever. The best way to describe what Derek felt towards Samantha is a child-like curiosity. He immediately felt drawn to her and wanted to know more about her; her favorite food, her favorite color, her hobbies, opinions, etc. Samantha felt the same. She conveniently found reasons to pass by Derek's office and little work conversations soon turned into longer conversations about life. One of the earliest memories they have together was sharing a cupcake at a work event. The first time Derek asked Samantha out, they went for a walk at a nature preserve where, despite Samantha warning Derek to wear appropriate footwear because of muddy conditions, Derek wore white sneakers and completely destroyed them. Despite the sneakers, they both ended up leaving that walk knowing they were going to be together forever.
