Travel

Here's all you'll need to know about getting there & staying.

Travel Note

Getting there

You may get to Portland, Maine by plane, train or bus. Portland Jetport is approximately 20 minutes from the McKernan Inn in So. Portland and about 15 minutes from the Old Port section of downtown Portland. There are rental car agencies on site. The Portland Transportation Center houses both the Amtrak Train Station, with five daily roundtrips between North Station in Boston to Portland and The Concord Coach Lines with daily roundtrip bus service from NYC to Portland as well as many daily roundtrip options from Boston (South Station or Logan International Airport) to Portland. Taxis, buses, Uber and Lyft are readily available from both these locations.

Travel Note

Where to stay

Staying in Downtown Portland is probably your best bet. Although there are tons of options, the three hotels listed below are close to the Old Port and the Casco Bay Bridge which you can easily Uber or drive over to get to the party. There are also many hotels near the Portland Jetport. This area lacks charm but is affordable and near plenty of chain restaurants and The Maine Mall. If you want to stay near the McKernan Inn in So. Portland, your only options are AIRBNB, VRBO and short term rentals. When searching “Where to …” type in Willard Beach Southern Maine Community College areas of So. Portland.

FAQs

If you have any questions other than what we've listed here, please reach out to Emily Cromwell at 603-558-5172.
Question

Is this a wedding?

Answer

No :) Carlos and Julia chose to exchange vows in a private ceremony in September. This is an "after party" to celebrate with their loved ones.

Question

Do I need to bring a gift?

Answer

Absolutely not. Your presence is what we're really looking forward to. If you do feel inclined to gift, we've assembled a registry on this site, or you can donate to one of our favorite charities.

Question

Where do I stay? Is there a hotel block?

Answer

If you are looking to stay near the McKernan Inn, your best options are looking on Airbnb or VRBO. However, there are many hotels near the Portland Jetport or Downtown Portland, which are a short Uber ride from the event venue. We did not reserve a single hotel block for this event, as we wanted to leave it up to our guests as to which part of Portland they want to stay in.

Question

What do I wear?

Answer

The party dress code is comfortably stylish. If it helps, Carlos will be in a button-down and slacks and Julia will be wearing a dress.

Question

Will there be parking?

Answer

Yes, guests are welcome to park anywhere on campus. The best address to use if navigating via GPS is 122 McKernan Drive, South Portland. The easiest parking is Lot B (off of Fort Road) or Lots J or M, which are on McKeran Drive.
