Back in October 2018, we both logged into Bumble, not knowing that one simple swipe would change everything. Thanks to the algorithm, we both swiped right—and as many of you know, on Bumble the girl has to make the first move. So at that moment, everything was in Evelyn’s hands. She had 24 hours to message me, or I’d be gone forever. Thankfully, she did. And not just any message—a simple “Hello, how are you?” written the way Evelyn writes everything: thoughtful, proper, and in perfect English, even on a dating app. I had 24 hours to reply, so from the very beginning, our story was a race against the clock. A few messages later, we planned our first date at a hookah bar—sadly, a place that no longer exists, but one that will always mean everything to us, because that’s where it all began. Two years later, we were traveling to Spain with my family, living out a dream we both shared. But like many plans in 2020, ours were interrupted by COVID-19. Quarantine hit, and like everyone else, we suddenly had a lot of unexpected free time. That’s when Evelyn decided we should start working out—well, she decided, and I followed. The first workout nearly killed me, but somehow, we got hooked. Before we knew it, we were running races together and constantly buying new running shoes. Somewhere along the way, I went from bringing over a couple of shorts and T-shirts… to fully moving in. What started as a swipe turned into a home. Four years after that first message, we decided to get a dog. It wasn’t exactly smooth—we couldn’t agree at first. I wanted a Golden Retriever, she wanted a Goldendoodle. And as many of you know… sometimes it’s just easier not to argue. We went for a Goldentdoodle. After doing what I do best—researching everything—I found our dog. He was named Ian at the time, but Evelyn wanted to another dog name Pedro. For once, I stood my ground—and that’s how I picked Ian which we named Pretzel. And anyone who’s met him knows just how special he is. A year later, our lives changed forever when we found out we were expecting our son, Milan. From that moment on, everything felt different. He has a way of turning any bad day into a good one and bringing light into our lives in a way we never knew was possible. And now, here we are—getting married. Looking back, it’s incredible to see everything we’ve built together. We may not have followed the “traditional” order—our culture often says marriage comes first—but we did things our way. We had our child, built our home, and now we’re making it official. And honestly, I wouldn’t change a single thing. Because this is our story. And it’s perfect to us.
We'll post our registry here when we're finished building it. Thank you in advance!
