Sara and myself have been friends since middle school, and she was just as wonderful back then as she is now. I was the awkward kid who didn't know anyone, I don't know what allowed me to work up the courage to talk to her, but I just did. Starting high school we took a biomed class together, dissecting animal organs among other things. When schools shut down in April of 2020, we had drifted apart. Come July, I had finished with my disaster relief response with Civil Air Patrol, and I wanted to go to prom but didn't have anyone to go with, so I thought it would be nice to go with her as friends, and we just clicked. Playing Mario Kart and Mario Party together really brought us closer, as dividing as those games are sometimes. As we are playing games together, she laid her head on my shoulder and said "This is nice." It didn't click with me until about a week later she grabbed my face in her hands and said "Look idiot, I love you."
