Dacotah and I met for the first time on the sandy turf of the kickball field in fourth grade. Long story short, I messed up in a stupid way since I'd never played before and my team, Dacotah at the lead, shouted me off the field. He lived in my head as a bully because of that moment, at the end of the year he moved back with his dad and I couldn't be happier. Fast forward to summer before our sophmore year, he was staying with his grandma and we both spent a lot of time at the pool. I was with my friends and I didn't recognize him, but they did. We went over to say hello and Dacotah hung out with us the rest of the day, in his words, he was immediately infatuated with me. A mutual feeling. We were both too shy to exchange contact information so I didn't see him again until junior year when he official moved back. We had mutual friends but were never in the same room together, I never even saw him in the hallways only on snapchat stories. It was like he was a ghost. March, covid took off and we didn't go back to school after spring break, everyone was in quarantine and my hopes of seeing this cute, mysterious boy completely vanished. When school did start up again our senior year, the classes were halved and only every other day was in person so we didn't interact then either. New years eve I posted a photo on my story all dressed up and captioned it "What's new", he replied and asked me the same question. The second I saw the notification that he had snapchatted me, I was shook. Immediately texted my best friend and we were both like "no way". After calming down I finally messaged him back, deciding to be goofy, I told him "the year" and its just been a never ending conversation since.
