Is there a dress code?

Answer

Black Tie Optional: Tuxedos, dark suits and ties, formal evening gowns, shorter cocktail dresses, or dressy separates are all acceptable. Gold gele for women and cap for men (optional). Step out in your best Buba, Elemu Sokoto, Agbada, etc!

When should I arrive?

Answer

Our ceremony is set to begin at 5:00pm. We fully realize that our wedding is on a Friday afternoon and Los Angeles traffic is RIDICULOUS! We urge you to aim to arrive by 4:30pm so that you have plenty of time to park, find a seat, and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Both the ceremony and reception will take place at the same location. Self parking and valet will be at a special discounted rate of $10 on our wedding night. Just mention the Obileye Wedding at the exit gate. Please note that the standard rate for overnight parking is $35 per day. Those who book a room through the designated Hotel Maya room block receive a discounted overnight parking rate at $20 per day.

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony and cocktail hour will be outdoors, but no grass! The reception will take place indoors with a beautiful view of the Long Beach Harbor.

Can I take pictures during the ceremony?

Answer

We kindly request an unplugged ceremony. Please tuck away all devices and enjoy being fully present in this moment with us. We promise to share the beautiful photos our photographer captures of our ceremony. Pictures and videos are welcome at the cocktail hour and reception.

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

Unfortunately, we have a strict guest list to stay on budget. We will only be able to accommodate those listed on your wedding invitation.

Are kids welcome?

Answer

While we love your little ones, our wedding will be an adults-only event so that everyone can relax and enjoy the evening. Only children within our immediate family/wedding party will be present. We appreciate you making childcare arrangements ahead of time so you can celebrate with us.

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

We recommend conveniently staying at our wedding venue, Hotel Maya. The last day to receive the group rate is Tuesday, April 30, 2024. After this date, you will not be able to book the group rate and any additional rooms will be based upon availability. If you wish to call in to book your room, please reference rate/group code “CDT90Q”. Visit the "Travel" page on this site to book the group rate for your stay. There are several hotels in the surrounding area. Please feel free to choose whatever works best for you!

Will there be food and drinks during cocktail hour?

After the wedding ceremony, we will be serving selected appetizers. We invite you to toast to our nuptials with a curated selection of wine, beer, and cocktails.

While selected appetizers will be served during cocktail hour, traditional Nigerian cuisine will be featured during the reception.
