Our Second Chance at “I Do”

08-08-2025

In 2020, we planned a wedding. Not just any wedding—a celebration that was supposed to bring all our favorite people together to witness the beginning of our forever. We imagined dancing under string lights, heartfelt toasts, and hugs that lingered a little longer than usual. We were ready. And then, the world shut down. What started as a “brief delay” became a string of postponements. Each time we rescheduled, Covid crept back in, rearranging plans we were holding onto with white-knuckled hope. After the third attempt, we looked at each other, exhausted and disappointed, and said, “Let’s just do it.” So, we did. Our wedding wasn’t what we planned—it was a quick, spontaneous ceremony at an event we were already attending. No venue, no reception, no bouquet toss. Most of our closest friends and family weren’t even there. It was beautiful in its own rebellious, imperfect way, but it always felt unfinished. Like the prologue to a story we still hadn’t fully told. Now, we have the chance to do it over. Not because we have to—but because we get to. Because the years between then and now have tested us, stretched us, grown us. And through it all, we chose each other. Again and again. This time, we’re doing it surrounded by the people we love. This time, we get to wear the boots, raise the glasses, and celebrate not just the wedding, but the life we’ve built since. We’re so grateful for the second chance—to honor the past, embrace the present, and step into the future… together.
