They met at Woodlan Jr./Sr. High School during show choir—her freshman year and his sophomore year. What began as a close friendship slowly turned into years of flirting with him asking her out more than once along the way. One night, while she was house-sitting, some old friends thought it would be funny to pretend they were breaking in after he had already left. Frightened, she called him, and without hesitation, he came straight back to make sure she was safe. This marked a turning point in their friendship. On February 14th, spending the evening together after their friends had left, she finally asked if he was going to ask her to be his girlfriend. He did. They knew it was serious when he joined her family on their annual camping trip; everything felt natural, comfortable, and exactly right. He proposed during a fall visit to Fido’s Forest, surrounded by peak autumn colors. After walking the trails and letting her dog explore, he asked her to wait. Moments later, her dog returned with a ring on her collar, and he asked her to marry him.
