We were initially introduced at the Sullivan Co. Fair by a mutual friend when we were 14. We exchanged phone numbers and social media handles but didn’t keep in contact. With each of us going to different schools, we never happened to stumble upon each other again. Fast forward to college, Emma was at Purdue University and Luke was at Vincennes University—roughly 3 hours apart. Some DMs were exchanged via Instagram about a heifer calf at Emma’s job at the Beef Unit at Purdue. More conversations about cattle and music ensued until Luke drove to West Lafayette to take Emma on a date in the fall of 2019. While the rest should have been history, we spent the next year on differing paths but remained very close friends. The summer of 2020 both as second-year students, Luke took a job in Alaska and Emma took a job in Colorado. We kept in contact as frequently as bad cell reception would allow and kept each other updated on the adventures and beautiful landscapes each of us were experiencing. Emma ended up going on a two week road trip across 13 states with a friend at the end of that summer while Luke was in the remote Alaskan Bush without cell service for (ironically) those same two weeks. When we both landed back in Indiana after our summers, we met back up to catch up on our experiences. The fall of 2020 we decided the chemistry was undeniable and we began dating. Once Emma was graduated from Purdue in December of 2021, the goal was to move out of state together. Sure enough, Emma got a job in Nebraska and the decision was made for Luke to move there as well. In the spring of 2022 Luke and Emma moved to Valentine, NE. The engagement later came in the spring of 2023 and the purchase of our first home in “God’s Own Cow Country” Cherry County, Nebraska followed in December. Now, truly, the rest is history!

A monument that commemorates the capture of Fort Sackville from the British during the American Revolution. Very interesting bit of American history right here in our home area!
Explore history inside this beautiful mansion, President William Henry Harrison had built along the Wabash River in Vincennes, Indiana to be the center for the Territorial government, his family home and a fortress of protection during hostile times in the American Revolution.
Enjoy scenic views of the Eastern woodlands and the mighty Wabash (Ouabache) River. The word Ouabache is a French name for the Wabash River that comes from the Miami-Illinois word waapaahšiiki, which means "it shines white" or "water over white stones". The French dropped the last syllable of the Miami word when they adopted it.
