From the Beginning

When we first met, we were just 2 servers at a Mexican restaurant named Papi’s working closing shifts together. We started our relationship as coworkers and only coworkers. Speaking bare minimum to each other like “Hi/Bye, I ran your food to table 9 or I took your drinks out” and nothing more. As the shifts died down, it was stand there in silence or force a conversation. We slowly started talking about the gym, barebell protein bars and workout routines, very surface level. Then randomly, we got a shift change.. somehow we BOTH got switched. We went from closing together to opening together.. meaning every single Saturday and Sunday mornings we were stuck with each other. At first, it was pretty awkward since the first 2 hours were always really slow and we had nothing to talk about, thankfully we had Kyle. Kyle was the bartender who is both of our friend so he happened to be the ice breaker to our awkward silence. One day, Kyle and I decided to bring in drinks and get drunk at 8am, we kept taking suspicious sips of our drinks saying “man, this coffee is so good” so Noah finally decided to try the “coffee” and that’s what started our little coffee crew. Since all 3 of us opened every weekend together for months, we made it a regular thing.. Soon, those shifts turned to “hey we should go to blast and brew next door after our shift, to lets go to table mountain, to lets plan a Santa Cruz trip on our day off.” The surface level coworker relationship started turning into a real friendship. We would hang out all the time with friends and it was a genuine friendship, not those type where you say your just friends but actually flirting the entire time.. Until it became that LOL. The hangouts with Kyle and other friends slowly started becoming just us 2 when Noah finally got the courage to ask me to hang out alone. From that moment on, we were inseparable. It was truly the purest joy of each others company. It happened in the most natural way and I want to say that’s why it worked. Noah - From the moment we began hanging out as friends, to taking trips together the more and more my feelings grew for her. We would have the best times no matter what we were doing, it was filled with joy and laughter. It came to a point where Ella and I had taken a little overnight trip on our own to the casino where even though I was not the biggest gambler, I was looking forward to spending my time with her. Throughout the night we would share stories and talk about our lives growing up to talking about the drama at work. We would talk about anything and everything. It was that night that I felt a special connection between the two of us that just felt right. In the midst of a conversation with each other I told her the three words that I continue to tell her every day, I love you. She was shocked that I said those three words despite not even dating at the time. Come to find out, she had shared the same feelings towards me. Little did we know, that moment would lead to our beautiful marriage down the road. Ella - I’ve always said, I knew the moment I fell in love with Noah was the time we were in the Chick-fil-a parking lot, he was telling me something vulnerable that happened in his life as he was braiding my hair. I just remember my heart MELTED. It was so pure and genuine. Noah had become someone I never got tired of being around, he slowly started to become my safe place. We never had enough of each other’s company; 3 years later, that still remains true. It truly is the best feeling to have your best friend and soul mate in one. I have never loved anyone more in my life. We went from coworkers, to friends, to dating, to engaged and now married. We have grown together in more ways than one, started our careers, bought a beautiful home and devoted ourselves to each other. I can’t wait to see what more the future holds for us.
