How We Met

Chuka and Elicia met back in the spring of 2022. It all started with a rose sent via the modern way of dating...online through Hinge. Before officially meeting in person, Chuka had to verify that Elicia was real with a lovely FaceTime call. Throughout the call, Chuka kept the phone close to his face, with only his glasses and the back wall visible. Elicia was swept off her feet by the endless chatter and agreed to an official date. A week later, they met a lovely local place called Hell’s Kitchen. Chuka arrived promptly, 15 minutes early (this never happened again), and Elicia (who typically arrives at places on time) arrived 15 minutes late. During the 30-minute wait for Elicia, Chuka saved the day by killing a roach, which allowed us to have the whole meal comped (Elicia didn’t learn about the ordeal until after the date). After a mid-dinner, Elicia and Chuka continued the night at a local rooftop bar where they talked the night away. It was such a wonderful evening that they agreed to go on another date. Little did they know at the time that their next date would be a hike at First Landing State Park that would last 4.5 hours and cover 9 miles. Elicia and Chuka have continued to laugh together, have crazy adventures, and chat endlessly ever since! Anyone who knows them knows they are a couple who likes to hang out and have a good time.
