How we met

September 2023

USHA'S TAKE: We met online and I am so thankful—otherwise, our paths might never have crossed. Truth be told, when we first started talking, I wasn’t completely sold… he CAN be a bit of a curmudgeon! But something about our conversations kept me coming back. And as we continued talking (and laughing), that initial impression quickly gave way to a genuine connection. Before long, we were spending hours on the phone nearly every night. By the time we finally met in person, we felt at ease and completely ourselves with one another. We just clicked. It didn’t take long to realize I had found someone really special. After just a few months of dating, I knew he was my person. DUANE'S TAKE: It was love at first sight. There was just something about her. And I knew instantly. (Ok, I wrote that too - but I have heard him tell the story enough times! :)

Travel

The Wedding Website of Usha Fischer and Duane Settle
Welcome to Prineville! If it’s not a day trip for you and you're not camping, we recommend staying in Prineville—it’s the closest and most convenient. Staying in Bend or Redmond is possible, but it will add quite a bit of extra driving to the end of your day.

FAQs

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

PLEASE RSVP NO LATER THAN April 6, 2026. However, if you intend to camp, please let us know as soon as possible!

Question

What date/time should I arrive?

Answer

Well, that depends... If you’re coming only for the CEREMONY AND RECEPTION, please plan to arrive by 3:30 pm on June 6, 2026. The wedding and reception will be held at Ochoco Forest Group Camp Pavilion. We chose this location not only because it’s beautiful and private, but also because we want to encourage friends and family to arrive early and camp. The more quality time, the better. And if you're not familiar with the area, it is the perfect opportunity to explore and have a mini-vacation! CAMPERS: You’re welcome to come as early as Thursday, June 4th, at 2 pm. Check-out is Monday, June 8th, by 1:00 pm. There is plenty of space, but we need to plan so we can accommodate folks comfortably. So please let us know as soon as possible if you plan to camp. You don't need to make reservations online; you just need to let us know the details (arrival date, tent or trailer (how big), number of vehicles, etc. And be forewarned: if you arrive early at camp, we may put you to work! We know many of you will be traveling to celebrate with us, and we truly want to enjoy as much quality time together as possible. So, bring your cornhole, cribbage boards, horseshoes, frisbees, etc.!

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

We want you to be comfortable, so no tuxes, no ballgowns, no stress. Early June weather can be a little unpredictable, so bring a jacket just in case. And most importantly… don’t forget your boogie shoes!

Question

Are you registered?

Answer

No, we have everything we need - we just want you to celebrate with us! (And this website won't let me delete the Registry link at the end of FAQs, so just ignore it)

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

We understand that some guests may have food allergies or dietary needs. Since food is being brought in and we don’t have the convenience of an on-site kitchen, we’re keeping things as simple as possible and unfortunately can’t accommodate special requests. That said, you are more than welcome to bring along any special, prepared food you need—we want you to feel comfortable and cared for during the celebration.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Parking is available, but somewhat limited—so if you’re able to carpool, we’d really appreciate it (and it makes arriving together more fun!).

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Of course, we love having little ones around. (And if you want to keep them happy and quiet during the ceremony, we hear a lollipop works wonders!)

Question

Are dogs welcome?

Answer

Only pups who are non-aggressive and friendly with people and small dogs are welcome to romp while camping... However, no furry friends at the ceremony or reception—unless they’re ours! 🐾

Question

Where is the Ochoco Forest Group Camp Pavilion?

Answer

It is 23 miles east of Prineville. -Continue on Hwy 26 through Prinville ~ 15 miles -Turn right onto Ochoco Creek Rd, ~ 8 miles -Turn left on Coyle Creek Rd -The first right is the campground -Continue straight to the group site **DO NOT trust Google Maps, it will take you to the Foresty Office in Prineville**
