Phoebe and Drew first met in elementary school, but it wasn’t until they were both on the cross-country team, Phoebe in 6th grade and Drew in 7th at South Laurel, that their friendship began to grow. From the start, they connected easily. One moment that stood out to Phoebe was during a playful afternoon in Mrs. Kirby’s classroom, when Drew looked over and said, “Your eyes match the color of your shirt.” It took Drew a few years to warm up to the idea of dating, though he admits he always knew he wanted to. He just thought Phoebe was a little too tall for him at the time. The two officially became a couple on January 7, 2019, and have been by each other’s side ever since. They both pursued their dreams of running at the collegiate level, with Drew competing at Transylvania University and Phoebe at the University of Kentucky. This August, they are excited to begin a new chapter as Phoebe joins Drew at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. Now, they are looking forward to building their future together, side by side.
