FAQs

Question

What is a Second Line Parade?

Answer

A second line is a unique New Orleans tradition where musicians, the wedding party, and guests celebrate together in a festive parade from the ceremony to the reception. Rooted in the city’s rich history, it features the newlyweds and brass band leading the way as the "first line", followed by guests waving handkerchiefs as the "second line". The second line will start immediatley after the ceremony concludes, so grab your hankerchief and laissez les bons temps rouler!!

Question

What is a "New Orleans Style" Reception?

Answer

After the second line, the party really starts! "New Orleans Style" receptions are typically not seated dinners, but consist of heavy passed items at the start of the reception, open action stations and buffets, with emphasis on lots of food options, lots of beverages, and a highly dynamic and social atmosphere that allows guests to move freely about the reception space. Seating is left open for guests to choose their own seats and tables. The bride and groom have their first dance near the beginning of their reception, opening the dance floor immediately for the guests' enjoyment, and to take full advantage of the entertainment.

Question

How Should I Get to the Ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony and reception will both take place at Race + Religious! R&R is a short Uber from most other locations in the city and has free street parking as well!

Question

Drouilhet??

Answer

We know you’re wondering… it’s pronounced “Drew-yay”!
