On a cool Monday in January 2024, Drew messaged Eliza on a dating app, asking if she’d join him for a walk at County Park with his mini Bernedoodle, Jean. They hadn’t chatted much before this spontaneous invite, but not wanting to be abducted in the woods, Eliza suggested Noel Dorwart Park, a favorite spot of hers and somewhere she was more familiar with. Their walk was a hit, full of easy conversation and laughter. At the end, Drew asked if she was free for dinner. Mondays in Lancaster are famously sleepy, with most restaurants closed, but Drew suggested John J Jeffries, a spot Eliza instantly knew meant “This guy knows good food!”.
