Don and Aaron's Wedding and Reception

4:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Kasson Grove Beach Pavilion
15 Lake Avenue, Bethlehem, CT 06751

You are free to dress however you deem comfortable, we will be wearing jeans, button down shirts, vests and ties. Whatever makes you happy will make us happy!

When you put my address into GPS, it will bring you into the Kasson Grove neighborhood. As you drive down Kasson Avenue, you will see the beach pavilion on the left next to lake. Please park in the grassy area that says beach parking. We will be having a simple dinner with a soup or salad, entree options and light dessert. We will be serving a signature cocktail to begin, beer and wine. If you would like to bring your drink of choice, please feel free. As a side note, there is no bathroom at the pavilion, just a porta-potty. There will be dancing, if you so choose!

Travel

We are approximately 90 miles from NYC and 45 miles from Hartford. If you need any help with travel arrangements and lodging please contact us directly. BIG EDIT: The Garlic and Harvest Festival is happening at the same time as the wedding. It is suggested that you add a little extra time to travel to the neighborhood. If you are coming from points south, consider an alternate way into Bethlehem than Flanders Road/Rte 61. If you do end up on 61 turn LEFT at the blinking light. Take the first right onto Bellamy. The entrance to Bellamy from Rte 61 will be blocked for festival traffic. As you travel down Bellamy from the East Street entrance, take another right at the stop sign. Pass the west side of the lake and continue. We are on the east shore. You will see a tight left turn to entrance Kasson Avenue. From New Milford, it is suggested coming through Washington on 109 and turning onto Woodcreek Rd Continue on to Bellamy from East Street. Any questions, please reach out!

Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Donald Richards III and Aaron Jacques
If you are new to our area, Litchfield County has amazing scenery, historic house museums, antiquing, hiking, kayaking. Please reach out to Aaron or myself so we can help make your trip to the area memorable. We absolutely love our small towns. Columbus Day weekend, will be the annual Garlic and Harvest Festival at the fairgrounds up the street, down the hill is March Farms for a corn maze and apple picking. The Bellamy Ferriday House Museum is right in the center of town. Pick up a copy of Lilac Girls and read about Carolyn Ferriday, an early 20th century activist/socialite who fought to help concentration camp survivors. Kent is a nearby town with wonderful shopping, art galleries and dining. Washington Depot (where Aaron lives) is the inspiration for Gilmore Girls. We have two world class spas minutes away. Woodbury is known as the antiques capitol of Connecticut. with great shopping and exploring. White Memorial is a nearby land preserve. Truly, we live in a very special place.

Arethusa Farm Dairy

Arethusa Farm Dairy

822 Bantam Road, Litchfield, CT 06750

Delicious Ice cream and cheeses from the famous Arethusa Farm, owned by the man that runs Manolo Blahnik. If you really want to treat yourself, the main restaurant next door Arethusa Al Tavolo is rated as the best restaurant in Connecticut. Be forewarned, it's pricey! Reservations definitely required. I took Aaron for his birthday a few years ago and it was the best food we had ever eaten. We consoled ourselves later but figuring out how long it would be before we were living in a cardboard box under the highway overpass if we dined there every night.

Mayflower Inn & Spa, Auberge Resorts Collection

The Hopkins Inn & Restaurant

The Hopkins Inn & Restaurant

White Flower Farm Store & Gardens

The famous White Flower Farm come to life! Many a gardener may know the catalogue, but the actual store and display gardens are just a few miles down the road from me. Tour the gardens and shop and have your plants shipped!

Tapping Reeve House and Law School

America's first law school is just minutes away. Great shopping and dining options, Litchfield is renowned for it's finely preserved architecture and shopping.

The Owl Wine & Food Bar

The Owl Wine & Food Bar

18 East Shore Road, New Preston, CT 06777

Just below Lake Waramaug, the village of New Preston has our new favorite restaurant, The Owl. Fabulous food and location, on the porch of an old house. We highly recommend a glass of the Buddy Sprinkles IPA if on tap, But anything from Kent Falls Brewing is magical. New Preston has a surprising amount of great local shopping. You'd never guess that the opening of Friday the 13th II was filmed in what was once a rather rundown village now filled with antiques and home goods shops.

Morrison Gallery

Morrison Gallery

60 North Main Street, Kent, CT 06757

We're excited to see this new gallery, it's having a soft opening on weekends while you will be here. Kent has been long a destination for artists, and you will see the abundance of outdoor pieces scattered through out downtown.

Fife 'n Drum Restaurant & Inn

Fife 'n Drum Restaurant & Inn

53 North Main Street, Kent, CT 06757

This our new traditional place for Easter brunch. The Fife and Drum has a long history, having been in Kent over 50 years. My grandfather, the owner Dolph, and the actor Ephraim Zimbalist Jr. would often sing together around the piano on Sunday nights. This is a cozy, fun and unpretentious place to head to if you are in Kent.

Charcoal Chef

Charcoal Chef

670 Main Street North, Woodbury, CT 06798

When I was a kid, we ate here weekly. My grandfather met his men's group every morning here for breakfast. When Aaron and I first met, we would routinely come here for dinner as it almost seemed cheaper than cooking at home! This is an honest roadside country restaurant/diner that's been a local institution for close to 75 years. As per the name, most everything is cooked over their charcoal grills. This is the prime senior hangout, as the drinks are poured strong! It's not fancy, but we love it!

Popey's Ice Cream Shoppe

Popey's Ice Cream Shoppe

7 West Street, Morris, CT 06763

3 miles up from the beach is another local institution, Popey's. If you want a burger and ice cream? This is the place. I've been coming here since childhood.

Hollister House Garden

Hollister House Garden

300 Nettleton Hollow Road, Washington, CT 06793

A favorite spot for Aaron to paint and photograph, these extraordinary English gardens are open to the public on a limited basis. Be sure to review their website, they do have an event on the morning of the wedding.

Nonnewaug Falls

Nonnewaug Falls

Falls Road, Bethlehem, CT 06751

This was the place to head if you wanted to skip school for the day and not be found! If you find yourself in Kent, their falls make ours a bit jealous!

Litchfield Distillery

Litchfield Distillery

569 Bantam Road, Litchfield, CT 06759

We have several distilleries that are crafting fine spirits in the area. This is the closest. Make sure to ask Aaron and his brother about their tour. Also of note: https://minehilldistillery.com/ in Roxbury. Local actor Chris Meloni is doing their ads!

Elephant's Trunk Flea Market

Elephant's Trunk Flea Market

490 Danbury Road, New Milford, CT 06776

I don't know how many of us will be up early Sunday morning? But if you want to take a 30 minute drive for one of the best flea markets around, this is it. I came here EVERY Sunday after church with my family and discovered my love for vintage pieces and antiques. You may even catch an episode of Flea Market Flip being filmed.
