In early October of 2022, Devin and I met through my roommate Lauren. Devin and Lauren both work for the same company, and he had come up to run Lauren's store for a week because she was forced to take a vacation. (If you know Lauren, you understand!) Lauren was still home for the week but went to work one day to meet Devin and offered to take him to dinner as a thank-you for watching over her store. That night at dinner, Lauren told him that he would get along great with me and wanted to give his number to me. Lauren came home that night and said, "You're marrying him!" and I said, "Well, I should probably meet him then." Our numbers were exchanged that night, and we immediately started talking. We texted all day throughout the month and devised a plan for Devin to drive up to Kalispell to meet me. This is a 4-hour drive, but the fact that this man wanted to do that to meet me was astonishing. We decided that on November 5th, Devin would come to see me for the first time. He started his drive from Great Falls. I didn't hear from him at the time that he should've been at my house to pick me up. Then 30 minutes passed, and then an hour, and I still hadn't heard from him. At this point, I firmly believed he stood me up. Come to find out, Devin hit a patch of black ice and rolled his truck up on Marias pass in the middle of Glacier Park. If you were to talk to Devin, he would say that day he lost his truck, and the only chance he had with a girlfriend. He was fine, with no injuries, but got driven back to Great Falls that night. I realized I at least had to go on a few dates with this man because he wrecked his truck trying to come see me. We officially got to meet a few weeks after that on Black Friday. We met in Helena, MT, for a quick lunch. After that lunch, we both knew we had to make it work and we started a long-distance relationship not long after that.
