On one fateful day, a table broke in the kitchen of Southern Roots Tavern and Eatery. Eve was running food that morning and Dee asked her to help fix the table. Little did they know, fixing that table would change everything. Dee, being her charming and charismatic self, decided to take this moment to get Eve to open up to her. At this point in their story, Eve was intimidated by Dee because she was her first boss. They ended up talking about themselves and stories of the past as Dee fixed the table and Eve mainly watched. The table got to live on and their lives were changed for the better.

On one of their dates earlier on in the relationship, they went to the Marietta square to hang out and so that Dee could show Eve around. They decided to have dinner at Taqueria Tsunami, a delicious taco restaurant. At the end of their meal, the waiter brought over some fortune cookies, he wanted to show them this specific cookie because it had been split in two and packaged separately, but the packages somehow ended up attached to each other. Meant to be. Just like them.

In April of 2022 Eve’s family was taking a trip to England, they would start in London, take a train to York and eventually, on Dee and Eve’s first anniversary, Eve was taking a train with her family from York to Scotland. Months before this Dee heard when they would be arriving to Scotland and she knew what she had to do. Months of planning went into Dee being able to come and surprise Eve in Scotland. Dee got everyone to lie for her. Friends, family, and even coworkers knew about the plan and were in on it. Dee did not want to lie to Eve so when Eve would say “I wish you could come to London with us” and Dee would reply “I’m sorry, but I just won’t be able to make it to London.” Which was true, she couldn’t come to London but she would be able to come to Scotland later in the trip. When Eve got off the train in Scotland she walked over to see her grandparents and little did she know, Dee was standing behind them, waiting to surprise her. Eve was shocked and quickly hugged Dee. They spent the night talking about the surprise and making a few friends at a local bar. The next day they climbed the tallest mountain in Scotland and Dee proposed to Eve. She may have slipped and pronounced Eve’s last name wrong in all of her anxiety, but Eve loves her all the more for it.
