Flight
We recommend flying into Querétaro International Airport (QRO), which is 1.25 hours away from San Miguel de Allende. Your second option is to fly into León /Guanajuato - Bajio Airport (BJX), which is about 1.5 hours from San Miguel de Allende. Quick tip - when you google flights, please make sure your arrival city is Santiago de Querétaro (QRO) or León (BJX). If you input "San Miguel de Allende," the search engine automatically shows flights to Mexico City. Mexico City is a 3.5 hour drive from San Miguel. We recommend flying into Mexico City as a layover OR if you would like to spend a few days there before the wedding. There are several flights per day to and from Mexico City and BJX or QRO.
Hotel
One of the primary reasons we selected San Miguel for our wedding is its unique combination of being a compact city—where everything is within walking distance—while still offering a wide array of accommodation options to fit every budget and style preference. We encourage personal research to find your ideal match. We highly recommend you find something that is within a comfortable walking distance for you from Casa Feliciana. This way, you will be close to all of the wedding events, and we will get to spend as much time with you as possible!
Travel Note
Altitude: San Miguel sits at 6,400 feet above sea level. If you feel the effects of altitude sickness (nausea, drowsiness, rapid heartbeat or headache) the best remedy is lots of water, rest & Tylenol. Once you are in SMA, you do not need a rental car. Most everything is walkable or there are plenty of cheap taxis. Tips: Tips at bars and restaurants are typically 15%. Plugs are the same as in the US.
Travel Note
You can also reach out to any of your hotels or Airbnbs for help with transportation! Most will be able to arrange cars for you. We recommend pre booking a shuttle service to take you from the airport to your hotel. If you are traveling around the same time as others, it would be a great opportunity to book together and share a shuttle!
Travel Note
BajioGo airport shuttle service is a great budget-friendly option. In order to reserve, book through their website and select the airport you are traveling to/from: BJX: Leon/Guanajuato Airport QRO: Queretaro Airport MEX: Mexico City Airport You can book a shuttle time window on their website to and from the airport. Once your reservation has been made, they will send you an email confirming the exact time we will need to pick you up at your hotel or home to make your flight in time.
Yes, citizens of the Philippines and China will need a visa to enter Mexico. A valid visa for the U.S., Canada, Japan, the UK, or a Schengen Area country can waive the requirement for a Mexican visa.
In March, San Miguel de Allende enjoys mild, pleasant weather. Daytime temperatures range from 24°C to 28°C (75°F to 82°F), while evenings cool down to around 10°C to 12°C (50°F to 54°F), so a light jacket is recommended. With minimal rainfall and plenty of sunshine, it's the perfect time to celebrate outdoors.
Please do not feel obliged to bring gifts to Mexico. Your presence is more than enough and we’re very grateful that you’re able to join us. This is a destination wedding after all! But if you insist on giving us a little gift, hongbao/angpao or a cash gift would be much appreciated.
Please note our wedding is reserved for those listed on your invitation only.
