We like to say we kicked off our life together with a game of kickball. But the reality is neither of us is very athletic. Matt definitely takes the trophy for athletic ability, but I wow the crowd with my sportsmanship skills. While we did meet at a game of kickball, it was our mutual distaste for fishing that brought us together. Ironic for two people who live on an island. I texted Matt a fishing question (obviously just an excuse to talk to him). So he invited me fishing. I enthusiastically declined and suggested a walk instead. Our first date consisted of my two favorite things a walk and coconut margaritas - from Dos Mas of course! We continued to text more and more and hung out a few more times before the moment that would ultimately launch our relationship. Despite knowing me for only a few weeks, Matt wanted to spend his birthday with me. He requested a relaxed night in - my favorite kind! We got Matt's favorite, China House takeout, and watched The Labyrinth. If you know me you know I'll never pass up a crab rangoon. Matt showed me his sense of humor that night. We talked about anything and everything and we laughed a lot. It was that night that I knew I could be myself around Matt. From then on we were buddy-buddy. Since then it's been 3 1/2 years of trivia/game nights, car karaoke sessions, off-island road trips, camping fiascos, weekend beach days, raising a piglet, and taking turns playing sous chef. I could not be more thrilled to spend the rest of my days with Matt by my side. I can’t wait to celebrate our love and history with you all in August!

I met Lizzie at kickball and one of the first things I noticed was she always had a big smile on her face. Whether her smile was a grin as she squared up for a big kick or an ear-to-ear smile when talking with her friends. I was so excited to see her and be around her at the games each week. After finally getting the nerve to ask her out on a walk I was fully confirmed in my suspicions that her beauty lay on the inside as well as the outside. Since that walk our relationship grew more and more each day. From karaoke and trivia nights to weekends spent on off-island adventures we became inseparable. She is the love of my life and I am so thankful to have found her.
