How We Met

Racheal and David both moved to South Korea on a whim in 2020, in response to two different job adverts to teach English abroad. It was this adventurous spirit that ultimately found their way to each other, as it was David's time living in Racheal's hometown of Melbourne, Australia in 2019 that made David stick out and encouraged Racheal to take a chance on David. They started dating a bit cautiously, as most international couples do, with the threat of borders and visas looming over their relationship, but their love soon became too strong to be contained.

The Proposal

A private, cozy weekend on a secluded, off-grid island 4 hours from Auckland, New Zealand by ferry, renowned for being an International Dark Sky Sanctuary, where Racheal and David saw the sky open up on a cloudy night and a rainy beach, shining down on them, as if the universe was both humbling their existence and personally welcoming them into partnership.

Schedule

Ceremony: Immediate family and special guests only at Woodberry from 11:00 - 11:30. Reception: Begins at 11:15 in an adjacent patio to the ceremony room. Please enjoy light food and drinks as the ceremony concludes at 11:30, at which point all guests can gather around the doors to welcome the bride and groom. The reception schedule to follow will include the first dance, the remainder of cocktail hour, a seated brunch, speeches, and dancing. The reception will conclude at 3pm. After Party: There will be an after party held at Bondhouse in Fells Point from 7-10pm. The entire restaurant is ours for these hours. Drinks will be available at your own expense. NO food will be available at the after party, so we recommend eating a light meal before attending.

Brunch: Family Style The food will be arranged on each table for guests to pass and share. The morning board will be available upon arrival on the patio. Morning Board: - fresh seasonal fruit - scallion bacon scone - yogurt parfait - cinnamon morning bun Mains: 1. Benedict - poached eggs, griddled English muffin + lump crab cake, crab-spice hollandaise 2. Crepes - traditional Breton buckwheat gallette (gf) + seasonal fruit, oat crumble, honey or maple whipped cream 3. Shakshuka Sides: + maple sage sausage + skillet potatoes, oregano Drinks: + mimosa + bloody mary + tea + coffee + juice + water **Dietary Restrictions** The crepes are gluten free and will serve as the vegetarian option. Shakshuka is also vegetarian. Sausage can be added to the shakshuka as an extra protein option. If you have any other specific dietary restrictions, please let David or Racheal know.

When should I arrive?

Answer

Unless you have been asked to attend the ceremony, please arrive between 11:15-11:30 if possible. The ceremony will be taking place in a smaller room adjacent to the large covered patio where we ask you to gather until the close of the ceremony, which is primarily reserved for immediate family and the wedding party.

Why is the ceremony audience limited?

Answer

We want a more intimate ceremony, and reserving this moment for our immediate family members and the wedding party, with a few exceptions, is the best way to do this. We are excited to share the reception and after-party with all of our guests, however, and hope any guests not invited to the ceremony understand our choice.

Do you have a hotel block?

Yes! Please look above in the Travel section of our website, where you will see information about how to book into our discounted room block at the Hotel Revival. We hope you'll consider joining us there.

What is happening between the Reception and the After-Party?

Answer

Guests are free to rest at their hotel, explore the city, grab a bite to eat, or anything else they choose during these few hours.

Will the After-Party have an open bar?

Answer

No. Sorry, this is not in the budget. Please enjoy the free drinks available off the menu at the reception, but prepare to pay for your own drinks at the after-party.

No, the kitchen will be closed during our event, so please eat beforehand.
