5:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Cocktail vibes
We couldn't think of a better way to kick-off the weekend than with a welcome reception including tasty tacos, margaritas, music, a few speeches and an opportunity for everyone to meet! Afterwards, we'll hang at the hotel or can pop down to the local dive bar for whoever wants to keep the party going...
3:30 pm - 4:30 pm
Wedding vibes - but not black tie!
The Ceremony is at Stolpman Vineyards under an old Oak Tree, and is quite literally in the middle of the vineyard. The ground will be a little dusty, but we're working on some ground cover, so please stay tuned on shoe wear. Why Stolpman? The Stolpman wines have been favorites at Wine at Five, and after a trip to their tasting room in Los Olivos in April and a tasting with young and very talented wine maker Pete Stolpman in Rye in May, we got to thinking once Dave finally popped the question in June – maybe we should get married in Santa Barbara. Sure enough, Mer asked Pete if they had a good spot in the vineyard for a wedding, and his answer was, "Yes! Under 700 year old Oak Tree." (Or so the legend goes). Note: Transportation will be provided from Skyview to the vineyard and from the vineyard to the Bells.
6:00 pm - 9:30 pm
We stumbled upon this little gem when Dave took Mer on a surprise 40th birthday trip to Los Olivos....and wow, what a gem. Bell's is a low-key Michelin starred restaurant serving California-French cuisine and featuring locally sourced ingredients and wines (of course)! The meal is prix-fix style, but we'll be taking dietary restrictions closer to the Big Day.
Travel Note
First, you'll need to get yourself to Santa Barbara! Option 1: You can fly into Santa Barbara via connections in Denver, San Francisco, or Los Angeles (sorry Delta people, there no flights into SBA for you to go along with your recently devalued status – Delta don't care). Option 2: If you prefer the scenic route, fly into LAX and take a lovely drive up the PCH – about two and a half hours. From Santa Barbara, you'll drive over the "hill," about 45 min. to get to Los Alamos. Sure, the 101 will get you there safe and sound, but if you like blind curves, steep grades, and hot breaks – but also love amazing views – we suggest taking the San Marcos Pass Road (154) out of Santa Barbara (daytime only). That's how we go.
