How We Met
On Sunday, June 30th, 2024, while attending morning service at People Church, one of the Lead Pastors welcomed visitors by telling the congregation, "Turn to your neighbor and say hello to three people!" LaShawnda was not sitting in her normal seat on said Sunday when she simply stood up and turned around to say "Hi" to her third neighbor who is her now soon to be Husband, David. A simple "Hi" was all David needed to lose his breath. Upon losing his breath and being left in a daze, David tapped LaShawnda on her shoulder and asked the question, "What was your name again?" She responded with, "LaShawnda, your name is David right?" David was taken away and with a slight smile he responded, "Yes". They proceeded to walk and talk up the auditorium steps, and just as their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ intended, they have been walking and talking ever since!
Seven One
After meeting each other at church just the day before, David and LaShawnda spoke early on July 1st, 2024, also known as "Seven One", and decided to go on their first date. They chose Cafe Robey in Wicker Park as where they would meet up for brunch and a glass of champagne on the rooftop afterwards. David saw LaShawnda arrive to the restaurant and quickly exited his Uber to meet her inside. Once both seated, David and LaShawnda proceeded to do what they do best, they talked for a total of 5 hours and knew then that they would want to continue their conversation forever! What was simply a first date, has now become a day to celebrate, a day to remember, a day of their union. "Becoming One on Seven One!"

Friday - White Sox Baseball Game at Rate Field
We'll be kicking off the weekend with a night out at a White Sox game to represent the South Side of Chicago - LaShawnda's Home Town! Game starts Friday, June 27th at 6:40pm. You can purchase tickets at the link below! We’ll be sitting in Box 152 (Rows 7-10).
Saturday - Brunch at The Duplex

Sunday - Service at People Church and Lakefront Hang
Where "Turn to your neighbor" turned into a whole wedding weekend haha! Join us for Church Service at People Church. We'll be attending the 9:30am service on Sunday, June 29th and will reserve seats for our friends and family. Afterwards we will be hosting everyone for a bike ride and hang on the lakefront! Further details on the exact location where we'll meet at the lakefront to follow.

Will there be a reception?

No reception, but we are inviting guests to join us after they grab dinner for a cocktail and music at The Pearl Club in River West at 8pm! The address is 495 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60654. We can't wait to end the wedding day off celebrating with you!

While we love our younger family members and friends, we kindly request that this be an adults-only celebration.

How do I get to the ceremony venue?

The ceremony will begin promptly at 2:45pm. Please arrive starting at 2:15pm to enjoy light refreshments, mingle, and grab your seat.

Yes! David and LaShawnda would love for you to take as many photos and videos as you'd like! Please be sure to silence all devices before the start of the ceremony.

Although we would love to have additional guests, we are keeping the ceremony very intimate and can only accommodate those we've personally invited.
