How We Met

Dani and Dave’s story began in Columbia, SC, in 2016. Like so many modern love stories, it all started with a swipe on a dating app. What began as a simple connection quickly grew into something much deeper, as sparks began to fly. They bonded over shared interests and an undeniable connection that only strengthened with each conversation. As they spent more time together, they realized they had found something truly special. Whether it was their love for exploring new places, laughing over the silliest things, or simply enjoying each other's company, they grew closer with every moment. In February of 2017, they officially became a couple, marking the beginning of a journey that would lead them to this unforgettable day.

The Proposal

In September of 2024, Dani and Dave set off for a trip to Denver, CO, to enjoy the vibrant city and the breathtaking mountain views, all in celebration of Dani’s birthday. Little did Dani know, this trip would bring her the most unforgettable birthday gift from Dave. On their first day in the city, they visited the beautiful Denver Botanic Gardens. As they wandered through the serene pathways, surrounded by stunning blooms, Dave surprised Dani by getting down on one knee in a secluded, picturesque corner of the garden. There, amidst the flowers and their shared joy, he asked the question that would change their lives forever: “Will you marry me?” The answer was, of course, “Yes!”

We highly recommend taking allergy medicine starting a few days before your trip, especially since our wedding ceremony is outdoors in a garden. Don’t say we didn’t warn you 😉.

FAQs

Question

What’s the weather like in Columbia in April?

Answer

Spring in South Carolina is warm and sunny with daytime highs typically in the 70s to 80s. That said, April is also peak pollen season here, which can be intense for guests not used to it. If you have allergies (especially you, Midwest friends!), we strongly recommend starting allergy medication before the trip.

Question

Is the ceremony indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony will be held outdoors in the garden at The River Road and Jasmine Houses, with paved walkways for easy access. The reception will be a mix of indoor spaces and a covered outdoor patio.

Question

Can I bring my children?

Answer

While we love your little ones, our wedding will be an adults-only event for guests 16 and over. There will be one child attending — our ring bearer (the bride’s younger brother) — but we hope you understand this special exception. Thank you for making arrangements so everyone can enjoy a relaxed evening.

Question

Can I bring a plus-one?

Answer

Due to our limited guest list, only the individuals named on the invitation are invited. If your invitation includes a plus-one, it will be clearly noted. Thank you for understanding and helping us keep the celebration intimate.

Question

Will alcohol be served?

Answer

Beer and wine will be provided. Please plan ahead and arrange a ride if needed. Cars cannot be left at the venue overnight.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Since the ceremony is a brief outdoor event followed by an indoor reception with some outdoor covered areas, we recommend spring-appropriate attire that’s comfortable and suitable for both settings.

Question

Will transportation be provided?

Answer

We won’t have a shuttle service, but Uber and Lyft are easily available in Columbia. Most hotels and the venue are just a short ride away.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

We’ve listed some great hotel and Airbnb/VRBO options on the Travel page, including affordable and mid-range hotels near downtown Columbia, as well as charming boutique spots like The Graduate and Hotel Trundle.
