Dane and Mia met through a mutual friend in their hometown of Lafayette, La in Spring of 2004. They dated briefly and at the time decided they were better off as friends. The next few years were filled with Nite Town meet up's and Taco Bell drive thru's- somehow always keeping in touch. In 2011, after Mia made the big move to Houston, she quickly realized how much she missed her family and friends and drove home quite often. Her visits often involved meeting up with Dane. They would go to her uncle's Lake Charles restaurant for dinner or enjoy a night out on the town in Lafayette. One of their favorite memories to this day is the time Dane invited Mia as his date to his cousins wedding. The two eventually fell out of touch, but never on bad terms. They both ended up leaving Louisiana. Fast forward to July of 2021, Dane(living in Denver) found Mia(living in South Florida) on Facebook and reached out.(Dane says he never stopped stalking Mia's Facebook.) It was as if time had never skipped a beat. The two quickly rekindled and the next few months were spent on the phone catching up on life and the years that had passed them by. Mia, always ready for an adventure, decided to book a flight to Denver. The rest was history. They spent the next year traveling back and forth to see each other. Their time together often consisted of adventuring off into a new Colorado mountain town, trying a new restaurant, or taking a dip in Glenwood Hot Springs. The two ended up traveling all over Colorado and developing a strong love for the beautiful state. Their great foundation of friendship, love for food, love for travel and love for each other led them to start dating. Long distance was brutal. Excitement was often followed by tears on their visits to see each other. In October of 22', Dane relocated to meet Mia, Carson and her family in South Florida. Their love for the mountains led Dane to propose in the North Carolina Blue Ridge Mountains on March 16th, 2025. They simply couldn't think of a more fitting place to profess their love for one another than the beautiful Sky Retreat on Nov 5th, 2026.
