I remember it clearly. I was an apprehensive freshman spending my first overnight on Howard’s Campus. There was a group hangout in one of the dorms and I went with my roommate at the time. The hangout was fun but there was one person I was intrigued with. He was wearing a Yankee fitted and I persuaded him to let me wear it. There is even a picture for proof. Fast forward to getting on campus I would see him here and there around but never spent much time with him. It took 3 and a half years until we would fully reconnect. He saw me one day sitting alone in the Punchout (the equivalent to fine dining at Howard) and came up to talk to me. I remember at first being annoyed that he wanted to have a conversation when I was trying to study but it turned into something I am so thankful that happened. We ended up going our separate ways but you could tell a seed was planted. After the winter holiday there was a big party on campus that I ended up going to with a few friends. At the end of the night all of my friends left and I was trying to figure out a way home. I’m panicking because Uber prices were $50 to get home (huge for a college student) and I definitely was not spending that much money. I look up and who do I see? My knight in black armor! In walks Jonathan seeing the panic on my face and offers me a ride home. After this nights we were inseparable sharing wonderful moments like graduation,getting our first jobs,and picking up our fur baby Hendrix. Life has been truly beautiful together and I am thankful to all of you for sharing this momentous occasion with us.
