They say you have to have some bad dates before you meet the one, and in Kate's case, those dates could not have gone worse. Having been stood up twice by different men in the weeks leading up to meeting Conor, she was less than pleased with what Portland had to offer. As all good stories go, she was about to give up, embrace the single life, and take a break from the horrors of app dating, when she decided to give it one last go (no help from a bottle of red wine, I'm sure). Fatefully, she came across Conor's profile. A guy who liked nature, beer, and dogs. She swiped right and sent him a message, short and sweet, asking if he would like to meet for drinks at a bar that Thursday. He agreed, and after explicitly telling him he better not stand her up, she decided to go for it. They met at a bar in Portland auspiciously named "The Sweet Hereafter." Kate was nervous and walked straight past Conor upon entering the bar. But he noticed her, and with his typical grace, called her back over, and the laughs began. The rest, as they say, is history.
Chandler Hillen
Chandler is Kate's cousin, and she has graciously accepted our invitation to officiate our wedding. We couldn't be more excited to share this moment with someone we love, respect, and admire so much.
We ask that all guests arrive no later than 1:30 p.m. as our ceremony is scheduled to start exactly at 2:00 p.m. You may arrive as early as 1:00 p.m., but we respectfully ask that no one arrive any earlier than that.
Children of our immediate family are welcome at our ceremony and to stay for dinner. After that point, we kindly ask that you make arrangements for your children to be looked after elsewhere. We want everyone to have a fun and relaxed time, so consider or wedding a night off!
Street parking at the house is available but limited, we suggest planning ahead for ridesharing & alternate transportation. Keep in mind that Oceanside is a busy area, so please check traffic, and the availability of all Uber and Lyft rides ahead of time to ensure you arrive no later than 1:30 p.m. Thank you!
We love dressing up & can't wait to see you looking cute! We request our guests wear beach cocktail attire (give it a google!) and would love to see you in pink & red if you choose to match our colors.
Almost always! We want you to capture all the moments you can throughout the day and night with one exception: We ask that you keep your phone silenced and put it away during our ceremony. We have hired an incredible photographer and trust him to capture our most special and intimate moments. Before and after the ceremony, feel free to snap as many pictures as you like with your phone, or with one of the disposable cameras that will be scattered around the venue. We will have a QR code for guests to scan and upload images to a public Google album for everyone to share. Should you choose to share on social media, please use the hashtag, #oursweethereafter.
