Our Story

Proposal at First Sight

Conor and I met in the most unexpected way during a crowded party weekend in LA. At the time, he was a Santa Monica local and I was living down in San Diego. We were on the final stop of a birthday marathon at a bar in Venice when I looked toward the back of the room and saw this tall, smiley guy heading straight for me. I definitely played hard to get (twice!), but after a few dances, he walked away with my number. Being "the logical one," I reminded him we lived in different cities, but he wasn't deterred. He came back to find me on the dance floor one last time, and before saying goodbye, he dropped to one knee and "proposed" right then and there. (Yes, that was technically his first proposal!) The next morning, he insisted on a date before I left LA. I went into it thinking he was just a "party guy," but I decided to go anyway and just enjoy the afternoon. To my surprise, the conversation was an unbeatable combo of smooth, fun, and deep connection. I remember getting into my friends' car afterward and telling them, "That was the best date I’ve ever had." *Actual photo from the first night we met below :)

Travel & Lodging

Flying In The best airport to fly into is Portland International Airport (PDX). It’s located on the northeast side of the city, making it a very straight shot (about a 45-60 minute drive) to Cascade Locks. It’s a Holiday Weekend! We’re excited you get Monday to recover, but please keep in mind that flights and hotels will book up quickly and prices will rise. We strongly recommend booking your travel as soon as possible. There are several great lodging options right in Cascade Locks if you’d prefer to stay closer to the party but Portland can also be an option (40 min drive).

Getting to the Wedding

Getting here depends on where you're staying. From Portland, Uber/Lyft and the Gorge Express shuttle both work well for the trip to the wedding location. The Gorge Express stops at Thunder Island Brewery, just a 10-minute walk from the ceremony (note: it stops operating at 6pm). For the trip home, rideshares are unreliable in the area, so we recommend pre-booking a taxi or arranging a carpool. The same goes if you're staying near Cascade Locks. Renting a car is always a great option for comfort and flexibility. However, we want you to be worry-free and able to enjoy the party without the stress of a long drive back! Please include your accommodations in your RSVP and we'll help coordinate!

What to Wear

Attire: Formal & Dance-Ready We want everyone looking sharp but feeling comfortable! Think Formal Cocktail attire: long dresses, elegant jumpsuits, or dressy skirts/slacks for women, and suits or sharp blazers for men. The Golden Rule: Wear something that allows you to hit the dance floor for a long time. Pro-Tip: Since we are in the Pacific Northwest, a light layer is a good idea for the evening breeze.

Cocktail Hour: charcuterie, seasonal snacks, and cheers! Dinner: A full taco feast with all the fixings. (Because who doesn't love tacos?) Dessert: A curated sweets table with all our favorite treats. Late Night: An after-hours snack to fuel the final hours of dancing. Seating We will have assigned seats for our immediate family and bridal party for the ceremony. Everyone else, feel free to sit on any available bench. There will be a "find your seat" board for the reception.

Yes, we'll send out a formal schedule with the invitations. But, for the purposes of planning, the ceremony will start at 3:15 PM on Saturday, September 5th.

Pre or post wedding events?

If you come with a warrior energy (as you should) for this weekend we’d love to see you in a short hike before you leave. Join us in Multnomah Falls at 11:00 am and shake off the Sunday scaries.

If you choose to rent a car, there is plenty of parking available at the venue. This is the closer parking lot to the ceremony: 355 Wa Na Pa St, Cascade Locks, OR 97014 In front of the Pavilion (where the reception is) there will be more parking lot available.

Why Cascade Locks, OR?

Answer

When we first started dreaming up our wedding, we both envisioned the same thing: being surrounded by pines, lush greenery, and an amazing landscape. While we originally looked at locations in California, nothing quite captured that spark of excitement we were looking for. We visited Portland last year and we really loved the city and all the greens that is surrounded with; plenty of hike options and nice breweries. Plus, September is the most beautiful month to be here!

Registry

Your presence is the only gift we need! However, if you would like to contribute to our future, we’ve set up a Honeymoon Fund. Conor and I are world explorers who value experiences over material things. We haven't picked a final destination yet, but we are dreaming of returning to France or discovering somewhere entirely new. Whatever you feel inclined to contribute is highly appreciated, we promise to have a croissant in your honor. Merci!
