This is our official wedding venue! Ways to get to the Connemara Coast Hotel Rental Car 424 Bus or Taxi that leaves from Galway City ( if you get a bus from the airport into Galway City, you can then get a taxi or take the 424 bus from Galway City!) https://buseireann.ie/inner.php?id=406&form-view-timetables-from=&form-view-timetables-to=dundalk&form-view-timetables-route=424&form-view-timetables-submit=1 https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g186609-Activities-c59-t182-Galway_County_Galway_Western_Ireland.html
Flight
Aer Lingus has direct flights that fly to Shannon Airport which is located in County Clare which is the closet airport to County Galway. They also fly into County Dublin which is the Capital of Ireland and has a bunch of fun things to do! We highly advise keeping an eye out on flights starting in August of 2024 - March of 2025 as the prices ebbs and flow. You can also download the Hopper App which predicts when prices might lower. Both Airports have busses and car rental's that take you to Galway which I have added sections on below!
Travel Note
Here is a list of bus services that travel to and from Galway & Shannon Airport! ( you might need to copy and paste the link if it doesn’t automatically take you to the page)

Hotel
This is where day two will be taking place! It also has rooms available and is a great alternative if you would like to stay somewhere other than the Connemara coast hotel!
Hotel
If you would like to stay in another hotel that is not the Connemara Coast Hotel, the Twelve hotel is a beautiful place to stay. Only a short five-minute car ride to the Connemara Coast Hotel as it is located in Bearna, Co. Galway. Bearna has lovely restaurants, bakery's and a grocery store. ***Walking is a bit tricky due to the lack of streetlights and winding roads!
Flight
Delta Airlines also fly to Shannon and Dublin Airport, although some of their flights have layovers in JFK, not all but some! Both Airports have busses and car rental's that take you to Galway which I will go into more detail on!

Ceardlann Spiddal Craft Village and Café is located at the entrance to Spiddal Village, just beside the beach, overlooking the beautiful Galway Bay, Cliffs of Moher and the Aran Islands. Here you will find 10 craft workers designing, creating, making and selling their work. This unique and very accessible craft village, is a “must stop” for visitors interested in culture, heritage and crafts. They also offer some excellent courses in a variety of crafts from Basket making workshops to courses in painting and ceramics.
Colette's dad is a 5th generation blacksmith and makes amazing artwork out of steal and metals! The Old Forge is on the Wild Atlantic Way located on the top of the Connemara Airport Road. If you get the chance and you see the doors open please feel free to stop in and say hello!
At the center of the Wild Atlantic Way in Co Clare are the stunning Cliffs of Moher. Stretching out into the mist along the North Clare coastline, the Cliffs of Moher are jaw-droppingly beautiful. Their sheer drop into the heaving Atlantic ocean is a well known haven for sea birds. Waves crash below, seabirds whirl above and paths wind along the cliff-edge between villages with photo opportunities all the way. The Cliffs of Moher is a 1 hour and 20 Minute drive from Galway City with multiple busses leaving from the City Center.
The Aran Islands, comprising of Inis Mór (Inishmore), Inis Meáin (Inishmaan), and Inis Oírr (Inisheer), are stunningly located in wild Atlantic waters at the mouth of Galway Bay.The largest of the three, and furthest west, is Inis Mór, also known as Aranmore. The middle island, both in terms of size and location, is Inis Meáin, and the smallest and most eastern of the three is little Inis Oírr. Irish is the principal language on all three Aran Islands. There are great restaurants, bars, landmarks and activities to do on all the Islands. You can take a small plane over to the islands from the Connemara Airport located in Inverin, Co. Galway ( Fun Fact; This airport is located down the street Colette grew up on) or by boat from Rossaveel, Co. Galway. https://aerarannislands.ie/ https://www.theirishroadtrip.com/the-aran-islands/ https://www.aranislandferries.com/
Roundstone Village is one of my family's favorite villages in Co. Galway. Today Roundstone is a popular holiday resort renowned among artists and naturalists for the remarkable beauty of the surrounding mountains and seascapes. It has a traditional craft centre and local activities include Connemara Pottery, Connemara Jewellery and Connemara Instrument making. Connemara Farming, Connemara Fishing, Connemara Forestry and Connemara Quarrying are carried out extensively in the area. Two miles from Roundstone, you will find two spectacular beaches, Gurteen and Dog’s Bay who lie back to back forming a tombolo and jut into the Atlantic Ocean. They are a favourite with water enthusiasts due to the crystal clear water and perfect for water based activities.
Clifden is generally regarded as the ‘Capital of Connemara’. Perched above an inlet of Ardbear Bay, with an almost Alpine setting and nestling on the edge of the Atlantic, with a magnificent background of mountains. It is an ideal holiday centre and base for touring the wonderful countryside of west Connemara. The town itself was founded as late as 1812 by John D’Arcy of Killtulla, in east County Galway. Two beautiful churches dominate the town
Diamond Hill – Loop Walk Omey Island – Loop Walk Derryclare – Linear Wlak Benbaun – Linear Walk The Western Way – Long Distance Linear Walk Warning: No 3 & 4 are high mountain routes and should only be undertaken by those who are fully equipped with waterproof rainwear, warm clothing, food and proper footwear with navigational skills.
Our personal favorite because of the restaurant & grounds is Glenlo Abby Golf Club located in Bushypark, Co. Galway which is a 9-hole golf course with a driving range. Second up is the Galway Golf Course located in Salthill, Co. Galway which is right on the water and is an impressive 18 hole golf course. Bearna Golf Course located in Bearna, Co. Galway is another beautiful 18 hole golf course not far from the Connemara Coast hotel. There are many golf courses in Ireland and we advise looking into them before your travels to see which you prefer but most of them have great restaurants and bars which makes it a perfect place for everyone to enjoy!
This breathtaking baronial castle is reflected in a beautiful Connemara lake. Home to a stunning walled garden, a neo-Gothic church, and, of course, the mesmerizing Abbey, this incredible landmark and its surrounding area is home to a wealth of history.
