The couple met for their first date on an abnormally cold Chicago Sunday in April of 2019. Coleton was sick with a cold and was feeling self-conscious about his fresh haircut. Tina was feeling really nervous and almost bailed on the date. After months, turning into years, of stomach-cramping laughter, they both fell in love, moved in together, adopted Monty and Pretzel, and were planning for their infinite future together. In September 2023, they vacationed in the New England area. On the second day of the trip, they drove up to Cape Elizabeth, Maine to see the Nubble Lighthouse. The sky was gray, the waves were sharp, but the vacation exuberance feeling was high. Tina was wearing yoga pants and dressed to walk around outside. Coleton looked dapper and was feeling pleased that Tina hadn't yet discovered the engagement ring that he kept in his pocket. Step 1: Get the gal to the lighthouse. Step 2: Ask a stranger to take their photo. Step 3: As Tina is grabbing her phone back, ask for one more photo, then kneel on one knee. They sat on a bench and looked out at the ocean and felt hazy with joy. They signed their names in the lighthouse guest book, and bought salt water taffy and other souvenirs. The salt water taffy is since eaten, but the haze of joy still lingers.
