How We Met

We were introduced in the kitchen of Lisa Williams. Lisa had been friends with Bryan through the music scene for more than twenty years. Lisa and I had been friends for about ten years through the Republican Party. Bryan had been widowed from a 26 year marriage. Lisa had the idea to introduce us for several months in the spring of 2023, and so we both knew about each other for several months through Lisa. The schedules didn't work out until June when Lisa called to see if I was available to come over for dinner in about ONE HOUR. Yes... one hour. So, it was a very impromptu introduction. Bryan told me later that he didn't know I was coming, I suppose since he was invited first. I only knew because I was invited after Bryan. After dinner, several people got out their musical instruments. I remember watching Bryan play a cajon. I didn't even know what a cajon was. It is a box shaped percussion instrument from Peru. It makes different sounds depending on where it is struck. I know Bryan was in the music industry, but I don't remember knowing that he played the drums. When I first heard him that night, I thought "wow, he is pretty good." I later learned that he was a professional drummer, having traveled with bands all over the country. Bryan asked for my number that night and we went on our first date the next week- to The Cracker Barrel in Athens. We found that we had a great deal in common with both being Christian, and both of us really liking all genres of music. But it didn't stop there... he was trainable to be a War Eagle !! Bryan hadn't really been into college football. After a few trips to Jordan Hare... he's a college football fan. Honestly, Auburn has so much tradition, and Bryan likes tradition, so it just fell into place that he would like being an Auburn fan. We dated until our engagement on Ground Hog Day. Ground Hog Day really didn't have anything to do with it though. That was just the day after the jeweler called him to tell him the ring was ready. It was a pretty, almost spring like day on February 2. So things just fell into place with our engagement. Our time together was only about twenty minutes, because both of us had to go back to work!!! It's been quite the year, since we were introduced in June 2023 and we look forward to August 3 at First Baptist.
