Yes! And renting a car is the best way to explore Tuscany because there are so many small hill towns that are not accessible by train. When Chris and I visited, we rented a car with AVIS. The process was super easy! And Italy DOES have automatic cars. Casa Cornacchi is a 1hr 30min Drive from Florence. It is a 3hr 30 min drive from Rome. We were worried about driving internationally, but honestly if you can drive in New Jersey or New York, you can drive in Italy. Plus every gas station serves espresso and cornettos! It was lovely driving through the country side. Here are a few tips to help make sure you're prepared: Get an International Drivers Permit - Italy does require it, although most rental car companies will rent you a car without one. You can go to any Triple A, it is super easy! This would mostly be in case you are pulled over. It is only $20 however and could save you a big headache. Know the City Rules - If you do decide to drive into some of the larger cities, such as Florence or Rome, do a bit of research. For example, Florence has a Limited Traffic Zone (ZLT) which restricts all traffic with the exception of taxis, buses, and residents. You can get around these rules by just doing a bit of research and knowing where you can park before driving into the city.
Yes! You are able to take a train from Florence or Rome to a nearby train station. The closest train stations to Casa Cornacchi are... Bucine - about a 20 minute car ride from the venue. (not recommended due to potential low availablity for taxi services) Montevarchi - about a 30 minute car ride from the venue. Siena Central Train Station- about a 35 minute car ride from the venue.

Casa Cornacchi is an historic residence situated in the picturesque Val D'Ambra, in the Tuscan countryside near Siena. Its history begins with the Court of the Captains of the Guelf Party, and its original construction dates back to the late 1500s when it served as a lookout tower to protect the nearby Montebenichi Castle. In 1529, it became the property of the Guelf Captain Giorgio Cornacchia and was subsequently transformed into a farmhouse. In 2009, a meticulous restoration of the entire building was completed by the Massini brothers, with the aim of preserving the traditional features of Tuscan rural architecture. The villas have been carefully restored, and the surrounding environment has been revitalized, including the planting of approximately 1000 olive trees. Today, Casa Cornacchi is a luxurious country residence that offers an authentic and refined experience. Casa Cornacchi also has several local recommendations which can be found here: https://www.cornacchi.com/guide.pdf
Rome is about a 3 hour drive from Florence, but the high speed trains can get you there in as little as an hour and a half. And they are pretty cheap! There is a ton to see in Rome from the Colosseum, to the Roman Forum, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, the Vatican and St. Peter's Basilica and so much more! Feel free to reach out to Chris and Ris for more recommendations.
Florence is about a 1 and half hour drive from Casa Cornacchi. Florence, capital of Italy’s Tuscany region, is home to many masterpieces of Renaissance art and architecture. One of its most iconic sights is the Duomo, a cathedral with a terracotta-tiled dome engineered by Brunelleschi and a bell tower by Giotto. The Galleria dell'Accademia displays Michelangelo’s “David” sculpture. The Uffizi Gallery exhibits Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus” and da Vinci’s “Annunciation.” There are over 100 museums in Florence, while these are the most popular attractions, please explore others!
Siena is just a 30 minute drive from Casa Cornacchi! Siena was an important city in medieval Europe, and its historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which contains several buildings from the 13th and 14th centuries. The city is famous for its cuisine, art, museums, and medieval cityscape.
A 25 minute drive away from Casa Cornacchi, you will find the Space Prada Outlet! You can find past season designs from men's, women's and children's collections as well as a selection from Prada's other brands including Miu Miu and Church's. The outlet also features a small museum showcasing the history of the brand, and there's a tour of the production facilities. It's easily accessible by car or public transport, or as part of a private shopping tour. It's worth noting that the outlet gets very busy—be prepared for long lines at checkout and visit on weekdays for fewer crowds.
Cinque Terre is a 2 and a half hour drive or train ride from Florence. You can hike the Cinque Terre trail, take a boat tour, visit Vernazza, explore Corniglia, visit Monterosso al Mare, enjoy the views, eat gelato and so much more!
